Going to race an 07 Vette on Wednesday......
I'm a salesman at a chevy dealership and just sold a guy an 07 vette, 6 speed, 3k miles. Nice car, drove it today, smooth and powerfull. I still like the raw nature of my TA though! Anyway, the guy's only like 24, pretty cool, we've sold him a few other vehicles since I've been there. So he's picking it up on Wednesday and I asked him if he'd run me just for kicks, and of course he's up for it. Just curious how you all think it'll turn out. I'm at about 380RWHP, M6, with 4.11's. I need some stickier tires to be able to hook up at all from a dig so I'm going to run him from a roll, halfway through 2nd I figure. I know he's got the weight advantage, but I should have about 40hp or so on him. Plus he's got 3.42's to my 4.11's. On top of that, he hasn't driven the car, so I'm not sure how well he'll drive it. But assuming we both are driving the cars to their potential, from a roll, what do you think will happen?

Let's see '08s have 430 or 436 with the exhaust option. '07s are rated at 400 hp at the crank, right?
If they weigh ~3300 lbs, and you weigh ~3500 and you've got 40 rwhp on them, you've got the better power:weight ratio. I think you'll pull a little, but I wouldn't be over-confident. Just race and see. If you already knew for sure who'd win, then what would be the point?

Yeah it'll be fun either way, and I am hoping to pull a little. But yeah, chris is right, 07's are still the 6.0 and 400 crank hp. I'm at 380rwhp so roughly 440ish crank. The 08's have the 6.2 and 430 crank or 436 with the exhaust.

idk, look up some dyno charts
camaros were rated at 300 or so, and they put that to the ground so the ratings can be inaccurate

I would think if the driving is equal you would win. The gears and extra HP are more then enough to make up the weight.

LS2 Corvettes average around 340-350 rear-wheel and average mid 12's in stock trim. If his T/A was on drag radials i'd put my money on him, but with street tires it can be iffy. Can't wait to hear the outcome.

Yes but LS2 vettes have traction issues too although not as bad and need a really good driver to turn those times. If they go from a 2nd gear roll i'd give the edge to the ta assuming both can drive.
Take a video I'd love to see it.

Results?
My money is on the OP, he's got the technical edge and the experience behind the wheel of his car.

Sorry for no updates recently, my internet at home has been down for almost a week, gotta love Verizon. Anyway, the kid picked it up and we talked for awhile, and he decided he was going to run around for a few hours and get used to the car first then swing back by that evening. Then he didn't show. He works out of town and is usually around here on the weekends, so I'm going to try and get ahold of him this weekend. Hopefully I'll get someone to ride with him or me and get some video. One of the guys I work with here knows him pretty well and has his cell number so i'll make sure he actually shows up this time.

Oh, mods for the most part are in the sig. Engine wise its pretty much just just full bolton's and a hotcam. Stock but ported heads and intake, electric waterpump, ls1 air intake, MSD ignition, heavy duty valve springs, etc. Pulls hard all the way to 6500. This used to be qwk93ta's car here on the board, and he's got a dyno sheet up somewhere around here.
2002 Acura RSX 5 Speed- Borla Catback, AEM V2 intake
1993 Pontiac Transam- Flowmasters, SLP Headers, Hotcam, Moser 9"/4.11's, Detroit locker, McLeod clutch...... and then some, basically full boltons and 380RWHP
