full bolt on 01-02 mustang gt
ok, how likely is it that an 01-02 gt with full bolt ons is pushing 400rwhp? no spray and no cams. i want to race this guy so bad i can taste it. but he's been telling people 400rwhp, and i'm at 350rwhp.

Naw 400 is very unlikely with only bolt ons.

update: i just spoke with my uncle who is this guys neighbor and he said the bottom end has been built, forged internals, and he said it had "a bigger crank", which would make it a stroker right?

If it's bored over with the stroker crank, then yes, but by "bigger crank" he may just be speaking generally about it being forged, or beefed up...
What I'm saying is the guy might have forged internals, and he may "think" the crank has longer stroke just because it's forged. Or he may know what he's talking about, but is just dumbing it down for people to understand (I do that sometimes). That being said, if it is, then I dunno...An old high school buddy of mine has a 327stroker in a 94ish stang and it's pretty friggen mean.
Just race him, the worst that could happen is that you'll lose. Get a vid too if ya can! Good luck!

he won't race on the street (so he says). i saw him go by me yesterday and i was so tempted to turn around, but i didn't want to be late for work so i let it go. either way i think i'm going to take my car back to automotive tech. to get an ls6 intake and a retune when i get new lifters put in. it's just to bad i don't have the cash for some decent heads to go back on.

Yes 400rwhp is possible with a 2-valve stroker, but not with just 'bolt-ons'. Heads/intake would be necessary to make that kind of power.

yes it is bored and stroked, and he said intake too. i don't think i have quite enough to take him till i get that ls6 intake, some good tires, and a retune.

I'm interested to hear about this race later. I don't think he's at 400 hp either.. that's kinda out there for a bolt on GT.. might be hiding something else?

I doubt he's at 400whp, he's got a ton of money in that car though. Should have done a motor swap instead?
I think you will be very tough with sticky tires, LS6 intake and tune.
Good luck!

well, so i was told, that the 4.6 blew up on the original owner then he had it built, then this guy bought it, and hasn't done a whole lot to it. i dont know for sure where this 400rwhp came from though, him or the original owner. i need to go talk to him myself.
btw, my uncle told me he was going for a 125 shot of spray, he said he told him with the forged internals the 4.6 will hold up fine, which is probably right. i think it may be game over definately when he gets that.

Well, I don't know 4.6s like I know 5.0s, but that specific car only makes 235 rwhp stock, or so, and they run low 14 seconds 1/4s. So, he's lying and/or exaggerating about something. Either he's not making 400rwhp or he's got more than just bolt-ons. Usually, in that type of situation when the story doesn't add up, he's just exaggerating about hp. If you're making 350 rwhp, you should be in the mid-high 12s, from a bench-racing standpoint. While anything can happen, I'd say you shouldn't be too worried unless he's running some type of forced induction. You should be able to hear if it's turboed or blown, but I'd be a slightly leary of nitrous. It can be very hard if not impossible to detect just from sound.
