I am thinking about getting it myself but not sure which one to get? I drive mine on nice days so I sill want something that you can take on trips and stuff. I was thinking of the 500hp set up. Which one are you looking at?

I am going to go Hot Cam Kit for him, it is almost the same setup except you dont get heads. So rockers, springs, cam ,push rods, valve seats, etc... But I am hoping to put him around 420hp with that set up and his existing mods ...LT'S, C.A.I., Throttle body... But we both have daily drivers and use these as weekend cars. Not nice DD but cars at that...

I just searched the "Hot cam" kit from GM and just about everyone said it is just not worth it. Too much like stock. The one hp number that I saw was 25rwhp from the hot cam but 40rwhp from some 224 set ups. There cam was from Texas speed. What intake does he have on ls1, ls6 ....? If it is still the ls1 upgrade that for 10 to 20rwhp depending on the intake. FAST is the uper end and ls6 is the lower end.

Dude, if he's "scared" or "worried" as you say, then he needs a slower car, or at the very least he owes it to everyone else on the road to stay off it and keep the car on the track until he is fully confident...

He is confident with the vehicle stock, but he has no idea that the hot cam doesnt produce that much HP, he is hanging out with guys in our car club all like my motor and huge shots on nitrouis and is freaked out. He doesn't understand that a cam alone isn't going to make you a stroker...lol he just is young and doesn't want to get in to deep, cause he see's all these fast cars in our group and get s a little nervous

Almost anyplace that I have seen that sells cams (Texas Speed, Vegence, etc) have some kind of cam package. I definatly agree that going a little bigger would be the wiser choice, otherwise you are doing alot of work for minimum gains. It might even be a bit more expensive, but I would rather do it once and do it right if I have the choice.

Yeah fuck tearin the car apart for minimal gains IMO. I dont care if you have to lie to him about what his gains will be so he is calm-get a cam that will produce.

no it sure won't... 400 cam-only isn't something to shake a stick at. Most of them don't make it to 400 on the dyno I tune on, and the hot cam makes some noise, but is sure to disappoint in the HP department. It's a fair amount of work involved in the swap. I'd never do it for such a small gain.
What is it with people on this site and the Hot cam already ??!?
