Quick question...
is a trans am and a trans am formula the same thing?

All trans ams start as formulas. Therefore, all trans ams are formulas but not all formulas are trans ams. So yes trans am and trans am formulas is the same thing.

oh ok .. so it goes from formula to trans am... so if something says it's a trans am formula.. it's really just a normal trans am..?

I don't think people that know Firebirds would ever use the term, "TransAm Formula"

actually... here is the breakdown
firebird: v6 base model
firebird formula (or just referred to as a formula): looks like a v6 model but has a v8
trans am: different bumpers, sideskirts, etc. basically just appearance mods added to a formula, with the exact same engine and performance stuff
then theres the trans am ws6 and the formula ws6, which are pretty self explanatory. (just a few upgraded parts on both cars)
so really there is no such thing as a trans am formula... the trans am looks like a formula. the formula looks like a firebird... its one or the other.

uhhh well those guys are idiots lol. i really dont know what to say... there is nothing called a trans am formula. take a look at a trans am and a formula and note the differences, then go back and look at the ad.
here are some pics to help. note the front foglights, and the ground effects on the t.a. that the formula doesnt have

If you run the VIN on a T/A or a Formula it will show as Trans Am Formula. I think they're grouped together because they are the same car with different body panels. My insurance card says Trans Am/Formula.

Red- 2000 Trans Am
The ram air hood and air box dont give and hp gain, the only things different between the WS6 and normal cars is it has less restrictive exhaust however it doesnt really add any hp gain, it has the ram air hood doesnt add any power and it has different suspension.

alot of time people list em that way to get more hits on there car. on ebay i always list things for my car as firebird, formula, trans am LS1 just to get in key words for searches. i assume people do this on trying to sell cars as well.

Please correct me if I'm wrong here but to me the Formula is more arrowdynamic(sp?) then the WS6 since it doesn't have the huge hood, and the only thing better is the suspension on the WS6 if both cars have aftermarket exhaust wheels/tires and exhaust so the Formula should be just as fast with upgraded exhaust and wheels?
I hope I didn't confuse anyone toooooo bad.

Black- 2002 WS6
ATcharming, What is the difference between a trans Am WS6 and a Formula WS6. The dealer never offered a formula WS6 right (never heard of it)?? I thought the only available versions above a regular Trans Am were: WS6 , Firehawk , Yellow-Collectors edition, NHRA package, and The extremely rare Blackbird package?? Does a Formula WS6 even exist??
JR.
