    2002 WS6

I have just purchased an '02 WS6. I have not seen the car yet. It is on its way here from FL. However I would like to know if VIn 2G2FV22G322130071 is a true WS6.

ASC stands for America Sunroof Company, who performed the WS6 conversions for GM for the '98-'02 WS6s. Each car was assigned an internal conversion # as they went through their shop, just like SLP did for SSs and Firehawks (and '96-'97 WS6s for that matter). However ASC's records were not as well maintained over the years and some info has been lost. The ASC conversion# and date are just two more pieces of trivia about one's car that is nice to have.

    Call ASC today!!!!Bad news

Hello, I am a nubie in a way i guess. I use to be one of the originals when I bought my 98 t/a. Now I am a proud owner of a 2001 black t/a ws6 m-6. I just purchased it on the 11th of january 2007, with only 17,500 miles on the clock for $16,000, and I am a happy camper!!! The bad news is I called ASC today to find info about my car, and ASC said to call General Motors because they no longer have this info. Now I don't know if you guys knew that or not but this sucks. If anyone has any info about how to verify our ws6 birds are not clones, I would appreciate it.
My vin is 2G2FV22G612103137. It's nice to be back in a t/a and nice to be back here on this forum. thanks

The RPO decal on your driver's door should have "WS6" listed, otherwise it's not a real WS6. If the decal is missing (possible if the door's been replaced as a result of a wreck), you can run your VIN through the dealership's computer to obtain a complete RPO listing for your car, and THAT should contain the WS6 code.

OK..called the dealer a little while ago, and they told me it is a ws6 and mentioned all of the options my bird came with ie hurst shifter, ram air package, 17's, 3.42 gears. I also called GM and a very helpful lady said she was gonna "investigate" the VIN completely and give me a call back tommorow. So we'll see. But I do have a real ws6, which is the important thing. The thing that troubles me is that the car sounds quite loud, and I don't remember my 98 ws6 sounding like that! The whole car is stock, believe me I was looking over the car for a couple of hours. Was there an optional exhaust for these cars? I hate to sound like a guy posting old stupid questions, but I have SEARCHED the forum with no luck.

OK, I got a call from that lady over at GM. She said that it was like pulling teeth. The best information she could come up with was that in 2001 there were 7869 WS6 Trans ams, of those only 796 were convertibles and 7073 were coupes. No further breakdowns were available. Don't know how true that is or not but it's something from someone on the inside. What is it with this information I feel like I'm trying to break the davincci code DAMN!!!!

Here's what I've gleaned over the years for '01s:

    2001
    Firebird 7191
    Firebird Convertible 1149
    Formula ?
    Trans Am 2596
    Trans Am Convertible 396
    Trans Am WS6 7073
    Trans Am Convertible WS6 796
    Total 21436

Not sure why the # of Formulas isn't listed, but I do know WS6 was no longer available on Formulas after '00. So the numbers match those given to you by GM.

For your WS6, 3.42 if it has the M6, 3.23 if it has A4.

Yep, TCS/ASR doesn't change the ratio.

Search for f-bod RPO and you should find a listing of what they all mean.
