All I know, is from what I have HEARD. The 2.2 ecotec, GM motor can handle 8 sec in the quarter, on stock internals. And from what else I have HEARD, it is THE most reliable motor on the planet. Like I said, this is what I have HEARD.

yea that is a great engine, but there are 2 other ecotec motors. 2.0 supercharged, and 2.4 base engine....i think
they are suposed to get up to 38 MPG.
on another note...
i remember when i was test-driving an '05 GTO M6, i was at a stop-light on a quiet highway with the salesman. an S2000 with a body kit and crappy-sounding exhaust pulls up next to me at the stop light. all the sudden he starts reving the shit out of it like he wanted to play. all i did was rev it up once. he got a scared look on his face and turned before the light turned green.
i dont think he knew what kind of car it was and thought "Oh CRAP?!!!!" i laughed so hard i missed the green light.

When I had a S2000 I wanted to run a fbody, but never had the chance. I know it wouldn't have been pretty from a hole, but from about 40 They wouldn't do to bad until about 90.

I had a green and blue cavalier once upon a time...it wasnt an ecotec, but I blew 2 engines and 3 head gaskets in that thing. Not very reliable if you ask me

Yea, sure you can make power with forced induction no matter how small the motor is.
But whats the point?? Its still going to sound like complete shit, won't get any better fuel economy than a larger engine making the same power, and it will never have the power band of a larger engine. Meaning no low end torque, and the always present turbo lag. Seems pointless to me.
Don't tell the ricers that though, they get all pissed when you diss their weewacker 4 bangers

Good story bro.
I got a similar one actually. When I went to check out my car for the first time to see if I wanted to buy it, the previous owner took me for a test drive on the highway. This was way out in PA.
We get on the highway, and he says "what you you want me to do?" "I can show you what the cars got, just tell me and I'll show ya, I don't care". So I'm like ok cool, and next thing you know he just pins the throttle and starts poundin through the gears in the fast lane. I watch the speedo fly past 140MPH, and then he let off and costs back down to around 80MPH. As we're slowing down, we pass an Evo thats flying in the middle lane, apparently he was going to try and keep us behind him, nice try. So we coast past him as we're slowing down, and both of us look over at this guy like "want to go?", so he looks over as us, gets this confused look on his face, and immediately shoots accross 2 lanes of traffic and gets off the next exit. I thought it was pretty funny myself, but it would have been better if he had tried to run us and got raped
And of course, after all this, I bought the car

Use your tripmeter. Reset it when you fill up with gas. Next time you fill up with gas, divide what's on the trip meter by the gallons of gas you put in. Make sure you fill the car all the way up both times.
But I guess most new cars come with built in mpg calculators in the car, not sure if yours does.

bought a Ford Escort 2 weeks ago filled it up once after getting it home and its still got a quarter tank left! awesome gas mileage. only costs 20 bucks to fill it from empty and I can drive it everyday as much as the T/A and fill it once to every 3 times I would fill the T/a and it costs less to fill.

I will take a V8 any day but you guys have to admit some of the turbo 4 bangers could hand us our ass. I just drove an SRT-4 a few weeks back that was making 480whp. It had an AGP GT40 turbo package and all the supporting mods and it was FAST. 4 cylinder or 8 that thing was fast.

But its not sexy. It was a neon. I piece of shit neon. They could be pushing 1000hp for all I care. Its still a piece of shit. Becuase its a neon. Nothing today compares with the sexiness of a firebird

Exacty. And how long do you reckon a 4 banger is going to last pushing 480WHP?? Thats a ton of boost, that motor will probably be junk in a few thousand miles.
Not to mention its still FWD (no traction, torque steer) and it sounds pretty crappy. Not as bad as those tiny Jap motors, but still pretty bad.

and they dont have the legendary history behind their name. when u say camaro, firebird or GTO no matter who you talk to, they recognise the power and they know its a muscle car.
Go tell a hot chick u have an SRT-4 she will say "whats that?" you will show her and she will say "OH its a NEON!!!"
