I didn't get a chance ever to race one in my 2000 SS (stock), but I ran one on the interstate from ~60mph in my 2005 C6 Z51 and all I could hear was his engine roar for as he downshifted and I left him like he was chained to the ground! LOL

400 HP stock in a what, 2800 lb car? vs. 325 HP stock in a 3750 lb car.

I think those new vettes are like 3100 to 3200 lb. The mach1s are about 3450 or so. Every lb counts though, the vette would need a fat ass passenger, and shut down a cylinder for it to be close with a mach1 driver being alone.

Mach 1's are actually pretty damn close to LS1 F-Bodys in terms of performance. I'd still give the edge to the LS1, but it should be close.

Obviously the author has mods, so that tilts the tables a lot

Stock for stock they are real close. Machs are worthy of respect.

I think he is talking about mod for mod. Like long tubes on an LS1 deliver more power than the same mod on a Mach1.

No, I was wondering why he got took out so badly. I know they run hard. I had an 01 Cobra, and supposedly, stock for stock, the Mach1 is a hair faster than the 01. I figured I would have two or three car lengths, not more than a BUSLENGTH.

I think he might have let off when he saw it was useless to continue.

I also had an '01 Cobra, and I can safely say that the Mach is more than a "hair" faster when driven correctly.

I figured I would have two or three car lengths, not more than a BUSLENGTH.

Race a properly-modded bolt-on Mach next time & the outcome will likely be very different...

I have raced some "properly modded 03 Cobra's," and put the smack down on one, and was even with the other (and I ain't put the heads on yet). If you got a Mach1 that is properly modded in this area that wants a piece, then I will happily oblige. I would rather race you, but I ain't driving all the way to Pennsylvania.

Maybe you post on a Mustang website and can get some locals to run me. I will be more than happy to bust 'em for you. Hopefully, they will bring a video camera, and you can post the results on here, just so people don't think I am 'ing.

Damn, nice numbers. I only got a time on it twice in its current form, and out of the two I got a best of 8.36 @ 89 mph with a somewhat bad 60 ft of 2.15, on STREET tires. I got a set of heads about to get planted on there, so we will see what it will run then with a set of slicks. Mid-11's with just bolt-ons on a Mach1 sounds a little far fetched. Must have had 4.56's gears and a full suspension mods also?

By the way, it is a Z28, not an SS.

Damn that car is quick with a great mph. Just shows what people can do with a car when they know what they are doing. I'm sure you just provided some education to many people. I agree. A full bolt-on LS1 with 4.10's and STOCK 245/45/16 Goodyears is real mutha to keep from spinning too. I found that out the first time I raced the ole Z28, the FIRST night I owned it. Full power in first or second would just annihilate those stock tires on bad pavement.

I was kinda pissed that the 60ft clock was acting-up in that lane on & off all day - I use the 60' and 330' data to help me make suspension adjustments to lower my ET/raise mph.

I have beaten more than one modded '03/'04 Cobra (and many stock/near-stock ones), but there are plenty faster than mid-11's so I remember that whenever I race one.

I'm looking for upper 10's on a 100-shot in the near future...
