Ever video mentions grinding the LS1 water pump, or installing an LS2 water pump.

Ever discuss I can find on LS2 water pumps says they're the exact same as the LS1.

What is really going on with the LS1/LS2 water pump situation?

I was able to figure out what's going on. The LS2 water pump is now used as the replacement for the LS1 water pump. So while an existing LS1 wp will need to be upgraded to the LS2 style, if you buy a replacement LS1 or LS2 (GTO) wp they're going to be the same LS2 style. That helps resolve the confusion I was having from everyone's comments.
