[QUOTE=jking] If it shifts out of 1st and into 2nd at 40 mph (or whatever speed), then you should be able to manually shift it into 1st at any speed under 40 mph (or whatever speed it shifted into 2nd in while in "D").
QUOTE]
make sure your at wide open throtle first, before you ever try to down shift. or you could do bad bad things.
just adding a lil Jking, not undermining

Throw a higher stalled TC and you won't have to worry about the tranny downshifting.

Custom Slate Blue- 99 B4C
I hate meeting my rev limiters accidentally so I havn't tried it in my Z, but in my 97 4l60e silverado if you put it in first it will obviously hold it in 1st until redline rather than shifting at the regular shift points, but when you hit redline it would shift to 2nd anyways. It does exactly what you are going for only it takes away the risk of over reving. I assume fbodies would do it too, maybe not older LT1 models though.
don't try it when the car isn't warmed up, it doesn't do it when cold so even if fbodies do have this feature like the trucks it will bang the rev limiter. Of course, don't hit redline with a cold engine anyways
