is there any reason why you dont want to mod your ls1??
i would understand if you wanted a 402/408 or are going boost down the line and you wanted the iron block BUT i wouldnt want the added weight of the iron block just to do a cam and some head porting.... just something to think about

Black- 00 camaro ss M6 #6695
The reason why I can't mod my ls1 is because here in Cali. Emissions sux.
I want my ls1 completely stock in Case I need to swap it for smog inspection or something
I don't think I'm goin for stroker kit anymore. Unless I get a cheap kit. Which I don't think that could happen.
I was thinking on getting an ls1 or ls6 and mod it.
But those blocks are more expensive in my are than the 6.0.
Plus I heard people saying that ls1 blocks can crack after high mileage.
How heavier the lq9 are? I mean. Weight difference
Any good advice welcome pls
What block should be good for my goal?
I'm trying to go over 400-450 hp.

Damn it. That's a huge difference.
How about the ls2?
I'll keep looking around. And see what I can find.

The iron block weighs 87 lbs more, but you can easily overcome that weight by going with a slightly larger can since the larger cubes will tame down a larger cam. Plus with larger cubes your torque comes in earlier than a smaller engine, so say you can have a win win here.
Plus you might want to think about buying another computer for your car, so you can lol(smog swap ) your engine and computer the weekend before you get it tested and you won't have to get it returned every time.

I kinda want more the 6.0 sounds better than 5.7 lol
87 pounds is lot of weight. But I'm sure is a better motor.
But I'm doin the weight redution anyway so I should be even.
I was thinking on a second PCM.
But I was told the PCM holds the mileage of the odometer right?
That could be a problem.lol

ill take the lighter car over the "bigger cam"
theres not that much of a power diff to make up the weight..... just my take

Black / Stryker Blue- 2K WS.6/ 2K9 G8GT
Just get HPtuners, then save your stock profile, and create a new one for the 6.0... swap tunes with motors.... or just cam and spray the ls1 and save alot of time and effort.

the stock 6.0 can only take about a 150 shot safely.... more can be had but its not worth the chance
both can make that power without question, just the LQ block will be 100lbs more lol for what your wanting to do i dont see no reason in getting a 6.0.... just my .02
good luck

thanks bro.. i pareciate the help..
i think ill just go for a stock ls1 and do the samething..
80-100 pounds make the difference on a 1/4 mile.. if both engines can take me to the same rout i dont see the point on getting a 6.0...
unlees i make up my mind on going for turbo or something..
75 shot is safe on ls1 right?
