2000 Grand Prix GTP- 2000 Trans Am WS6 M6
Pulled the intake and passenger side head off. Turned the motor over by hand and the #8 cylinder is stuck...the other 7 cylinders turn over, so I think a rod is broken.

T-tops off yesterday, it was sunny and low 80s. Rain this morning, and cooler weather all week. At least the rain held off until today!

2000 Grand Prix GTP- 2000 Trans Am WS6 M6
I'll be damned if I drive the GTP to Spazpalooza three years in a row. I'm planning on taking off work to finish her in time. New motor should be at my house at the end of May. I'll get it installed by June with the mailorder tune already done. Break-in of the motor and clutch through June. Dyno tune in July and Spazpalooza in August...I plan to do a burn out to make up for the two years she wasn't there.
More track time will make you better...I want you in the low 13s come Spazpalooza

Rehooked the battery up after a charge, put injector and cylinder/fuel system cleaner in, replaced the driver side low beam, and changed the oil. Back on the road with new plates Wednesday. Can't wait

more like 5500. In magazines i've read they all seem to feel the tach is a little lazy and 5500 is the sweetspot on the dial. so i aim for that.

....well, then, I suggest you try shifting just as your rev limiter kicks in, or slightly before. Get a feel for how the car accelerates in each gear, keeping an eye on the tach (and its' laziness in first gear). I shift at the rev limiter (6200) and have easily gotten my best times that way. Usually .5 better or so, compared to shifting at 5500 or less.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll bring it up to the point where its practically at the limiter then. hell... if you're that close... no lift shifting!!!

Messed with the shifter and boot mod I got going on. Then tried fixing the IAT sensor, seems to work now.

Had it professionally hand-washed and waxed, upsold after being embarrassed at the filth by a guy looking at the car in the parking lot of a rich person's social club.
