Are you just looking at catbacks or are you wanting to do from the headers back? I have the loudmouth on my car and I say it sounds awesome. I had borla on my vette and it sounded really good too but I personally like the loudmouth better especially since it is drastically cheaper.

I suggest the magnaflow or hooker exhaust. Both are great sounding exhausts that dont drone away in the cars interior.
Of the two i mentioned, i prefer the hooker as it has more of a old school sound to it.

Long tube headers, 3" Y pipe are a must. The catback is nothing but personal opinion. You wont see much gain on a stockish ls1.

Magnaflow- Sounds great, very tame and quiet.
Hooker- A bit louder than magnaflow, sounds like a muscle car.
    Flowmaster- Loud and deep sound.
Loudmouth 1- Very loud, and very angry/raspy
Loudmouth 2- Loud and much more refined than the lm1
Gmmg- Overpriced Chambered exhaust, although it does sound good.

I just replaced my stock SS system with the Magnaflow cat back with quad tips. The only other exhaust mod is the SLP y pipe and the motor is stock. It is about 20-25% louder than stock -and deeper sounding. No rasp, my t roofs were off after the install but there did not seem to be any drone. The install went very well, everythig fit, all pipes are mandrel bent (unlike factory stuff!) and there is enough ability to move/shift adjust for maximum clearance and to set how far the tailpipes protrude from the bumper. All the hardware is stainless and they are the band type clamps as well. Best price I saw was (internet quote) $530 US p/n 16723, much cheaper than Corsa. I have heard recently that the Hooker stuff is literally falling apart due to poor quality welds. I didn't get a chance to really test the sound of this system before the snow started to fly, sorry. Now the exhaust is louder than the motor at idle whereas before when the car was running you could hear the engine clearly- still sounded good though, just an idea of the increase in decibel level. If/when you do further mods like cam esp., the aftemarket systems can really get loud/mean/abnoxious (depending on your personal taste, of course!)

I have the ebay 1 3/4" obx lts, high flow cats & y pipe with the loudmouth and 6LE 4" quad tips. I don't have any rasp or drone from it. I get compliments on it everywhere I go. Here's a video of it. Sounds better though that was my first time taking a video of it and I was trying not to wake my neighbors up

Yeah I think it would sound alot cleaner outside, rev and drive by or something. I was thinking of getting a loudmouth. You have pretty much the same setup as me. Is it too loud just driving around if you drop it in 4th at about 45-50mph?

I don't think it's too loud at any gear. But people's opinion about what is too loud is different. I think if I didn't have cats on it, it would be too loud.

I've got a Borla on my formula and I love it. I'm look at the loudmouth 2 system for my convertible TA and only because it's cheaper.

I cant agree with you on the magnaflow and hooker comparison... I have a hooker catback and my car is far quieter than a guy down the road with a z28 that has a magnaflow catback. But i do agree with the muscle car sound, i have a cam and it sounds nasty!. It can be very mellow also under 2k rpm
