    i run that there castrol gtx......its no synthetic...but it damn sure works good enough for me....

    Same here, been using it for about 20 years.. Took my top end apart last year after 4-5 years and 70k miles of running GTX.. Clean as wistle no build up or sludging.. If you change your oil like you should there's not much to worry about in most oils.. You'll get over 100k on any oil.. I don't recommend Royal Pain (aka purple) tho.. Nut shell, when the engine is sufficiantly worn out it will shit the bed no matter what oil is in the crank case.

    its funny you mention royal purple...the creator of royal purple porter, tx....his facility is in conroe, tx which both places are close to home for me....i applied for a job there about 5 years ago...he took me on a tour of a facility...the place is not very impressive...half of the facility is all open door huge shed type buildings...he offered me $7hr ....i was like "naw"....

    What's not true? I said XL is a group 3 "synthetic". (notice the quotation marks?)
