Bright Rally Red- 2000 Camaro SS #5075 M6
Christmas came a little early this year boys ......
ups man finally showed up!
Still waiting on cylinder heads and injectors. A few questions?
1. Which color O ring do I use. I got the melling pump and theres a choice between a green and black?
2. What do I use to clean the cam? It seems to be pretty dirty.
3. The inside of my LS6 intake is pretty oily. Is there a way to clean it out?
4. The lifter instrucions talk about preload? Basically I want to know how to install the cam, the lifters, pushrods, and rockers the correct way. How do I torque the rockers etc...
5. Do I need to use RTV if I got a new front cover seal?
6. Which bolts do I need to apply loctite to?
Thanks for all the help everyone!!!!!

read this book called "how to build and modify GM LS series engines" by Joseph Potak. besides being an awesome read, it answers all of your questions just asked above and there's pictures to go with each instruction (helpful for retards like myself)

there's not alot of good literature out there for fbody/ LS1 cars but all the same I try suck up as much as I can. i think more than half the questions asked by people on this board would have not been typed if they had bother to go to the local book store or amazon.com.
I've found 2 very helpful books and 2 alright books at barnes and noble of all places.

Lloyd's LS7 Camaro
I have completed building two ls7 engines the one with titanium rods I used
kaytech bolts, however these rally pulled the rods out of round so had to resize which was $125.00 more so thats $325 in rod bolts. So if it is not high mileage motor just use new head bolts (ARP) and enjoy.

ls7 build
I use Torco assembly lube, as for cleaning cam brake clean will work for first clean and then use automatic trans fluid to clean lobe and bearing surface
this should be wiped clean again and third apply Torco lube as you assemble.
Do you still need valve adjusting info?

I can only agree with others on books I have been reading and reading. I bought some
shop manuals off Ebay on Camaro 2000 year books and my car is 2002 but 99.9 of
what I need will be covered, think all three were about 85.00 used I can email you a few pages if you like on cam install...

Update. I got the motor mounts installed. It really wasnt that hard with the engine stripped down as much as it is at this point. The scissor jack method to getting the pass bolt back in is great! I got the new trunions installed with just a few tools that most of us have. Its a great upgrade to the stock rockers and relitivaly cheap. My svo green tops just came in so all im waiting for now is the heads and the pushrods. I have no idea when they will come in but im hoping soon. I ordered them on the 4th of October...

Ordered them on the 4th and still not here dam. I got a ms3 cam from a friend since I just.got a stall and ordered the patriot spring kit, jp double roller timing chain, manley rods, and a slp high flow oil pump since it was in stock and I.ordered them on a wed and they got to my friends shop that Friday and dropped the car off last Monday and should be tuned annd ready tomorrow. Gotta find a better vendor if parts are taking that long. I usually use the ws6store since I got all my bolt ons and suspension from them so they usually knock the prices down and ship it for free.

Heads will be here tomorrow! Have a question though. I saw someone use a 220 grit sand paper block to clean the block deck. I uses this method as well, but I have not seen anyone esle do that. Did I damage the block deck? Also any tips on how to use the comp cams pushrod checker? Thanks!
