    Yeah I understand. I also mentioned it for the OD factor over the TH400.. He mentioned that first gear is way too long also..

    Duh my bad.. I missed that.. You're talking about the 5th gen tranny right? Damn' I only follow the 3.6 DI DOHC v6.. Go figure huh?

    there was a 98-02 maro for sale on tech couple months ago with a ls3 but it was a M6

    I'm just going on GM history but it would make sense that they would keep them the same. You could take an old 70's small block car with a Muncie 4 speed and bolt that tranny to a 454 with little to no problems. Changing bolt patterns adds cost so that's not exactly something a company would want to do. The LS engines are what, 13 years old? They kept the same tranny/engine bolt patterns basically the same up until the LT1. Honda did the same thing with their B series engines as you would swap a B16 transmission with the B18 (so if any hondaphile things Honda was the originator of that, smack them). Of course, I've been out of the chevy way of life for a while so don't take my word on anything. I just don't see any logic in changing them around after such a short period of time.

    Or, I just made a complete fool of myself...

    a rough figure is 3-4k for a used ls3
    conversion adapters 300
    new TB (300-400)
    pcm costs (wiring if needed and or replacement (200-300)
    other things missed or needed to be replaced (300ish)
