Black- 00 camaro ss M6 #6695
I don't like em bro.
It's slow at the take off. Once it's runny it's ok but I'm thikin to go for 4.10s
since yours it's auto It could work better than mine cuz mine it's 6spd
I had a friend he had 00 ss auto with 4.10s n he went to 3.73s
he liked it more with 3.73s. His was auto
wat I understand now 4.10s go better with m6

I like them alot. More pull off the line and nice pull from a roll. Not a noticeable loss of mileage compared to 3.23's now from 2.73's it would probably be a bigger difference. Car runs alot harder especially noticed it from 30 and 40 rolls against 6 spds. My friends 6sod used to pull on me when my car hit 3rd but now with the 3.73's and retuning the shift point to 6k in every gear the car pulls harder on top end as well.
1998 Trans Am 85k miles.

If you have a M6 they came with 3.42's so if you only went to a 3.73 I don't think there would be a huge fifference but should be a little, if you went up to 4.10's then you should notice a big difference. I noticed a difference in my friends A4 going from a 3.23 to 3.42 it wasn't las big a difference as my 3.73's but it was noticable. If you got shaking and vibrations you may want to have a mechanic that knows about LS1 rears test drive it and they should be able to tell you what's wrong. I inow when I had a 5spd Mustang and swapped the 2.73's to 3.73's it was like a new car.

I personally wouldn't spend ANY money on the stock rear end. If that's your only option though, go for it...

When you guys say stock rear end. You guys mean the ring and the pinion or something else ?
-

We mean the whole rear end, housing and all.

The stock rear can take a little beating. I have full bolt ons and full suspension on mine and it holds toghter but I only run BFG KDW NT's which launch good but will spin if you get crazy. If you try to put slicks or wide dr's on the car and do some hard track runs then you'll trash it quick. Most people I know have had to change the gears once usually. Now if you put a cam or h/c package and start getting over 400hp then you'll trash the stock rear quick. In plan on 9" right before the cam or the new forged motor depending on if I get my Vette or find a nice 02 SS 6spd loaded with low miles. Then it'll have to wait till I can finish the interior on my 5.0 Vert so I can put it up for sale and use that for the motor.
