ET? who knows for sure. the stang may have the advantage out of the hole if it can hook up, but it's transmission gears are aggressive too so that may throw an extra shift in there.
Exactly what car &driver said, stang had smaller tires (255 vs. 275) and had an extra shift. The gt500 cannot get out of the hole either which is why the 430hp vette beats the 540hp gt500 also in the 1/4.

But they dont, the mustang will have a better et with equal drivers. Like i said before its a shame that you really think trq wins races. 911 gt3 415hp, 290trq, curb weight 3200lbs, final ratio 3.44, 1/4mile 11.8-12.2 at 116-119mph, c5 z06 405hp, 400trq curb weight 3200lbs, final ratio 3.42, 1/4mile 11.8-12.2 at about 116-119mph.

    torque maybe wins 1/8 races

if it was true that torque wins races than the diesel trucks would be unstoppable

your assumption that the mustang will be quicker is baseless at this point. just opinion.

it's not just the finals little buddy--- whats the ratios in the transmission?

you dont NEED good torque, you can compensate with low gearing for torque multiplication.

an engine with a healthy mix of HP and torque is just a lot nicer to drive on the street.

take two engines--- both with 400hp. execpt one has 300 ft\lbs of torque and one has 400. put them in the excact same car. same trans, gearing, everything. you think they will run the same speeds? no.

it's a shame that some people think hp is the only number that matters.

I do not believe hp is the only number that matters, never said that. I like trq alot its a great feeling, but to all you kids who think trq wins races just remember that in about every form of racing trq is less than hp.

Thanks, but i dont understand how me being cute has anything to do with this conversation. You just seem a little butt hurt and looking for every excuse in every area to find something the camaro is better at and all you can come up with is "ha the camaro has more trq." Which makes little difference, even more so when you consider its hardly a difference.

Yes I do. But answering a question with the same question isn't an answer. Nice try though.

As I'm sure you know, there is a lot more to ET & MPH numbers than just HP, torque, gearing, etc. For one, the Mustang's rev limiter is only 250 rpm above its peak power. The Camaro's rev limiter is 700 rpm above its peak. Think that might have any bearing? Do you know why?

Perhaps, and I agree with the basic premise.

take two engines--- both with 400hp. execpt one has 300 ft\lbs of torque and one has 400. put them in the excact same car. same trans, gearing, everything. you think they will run the same speeds? no.

Depends on what the "same gearing" is.

    Bottom line....at the same weight, with optimized gearing, I'll be just as fast with a 400 hp/300 lb-ft car as I will with a 400 hp/400 lb-ft car. However, I can go quite a bit faster with a 400 hp/300 lb-ft car than I can with a 300 hp/400 lb-ft car.

Things that make you go hmmm......
