pred..i think you are asking way to much in terms of your price range..you are asking for a uber rare car, with great performance, v8+, and a low cost of ownership...those really dont go together..i still think a nice z06 would be your best bet...or a cts-v..that is just my opinion.

this is the issue i am having... But i cant belive that there isnt a USED car that will satisfy me for $40k...
and im not looking for LOW cost of owner ship, but a ferrari is rediculous... they require like $5k invested every 10k miles for a motor inspection... not to say anything about how much more brakes and tires and other small bits are gonna cost compared to other sports cars...
ALSO a Z06 is out of my price range unless i start getting into higher mileage ones... and its just another vette...

so pretty much what everyone is saying is that your "vision" of getting a rare v8+ under 40k is unrealistic, so either save more than 40k or settle for something less . -

alright ...fare enough...however i would like to just give you a imho
the z06 is no more just another vette as the zr1 is just another vette....the fact that the z06 has a different frame, one of the best engines gm has ever made, different body panels, more expensive and rarer materials like the bosa(sp) wood floors and the carbon fiber body panels. and the engine is hand built just like a Ferrari etc.
but i see what you are saying, as most regular joes dont know the difference.
