Racing a 911
This isnt a kill story...yet...but...my neighbor has an automatic few year old porsche 911. I forget if it's turbo or not. Anyway, on my c5, ive got an aftermarket blackwing filter, lt headers, exhaust, port n polished tb. My question is, could I take him in a straight line race? I know he'd kill me in a cornering race, although I'm sure I'd put up a good fight, but could i take him in a drag race? He's 100% stock. His father n law covets those things like they're god, and in returned I told him it looks like a beetle. Needless to say he wasnt impressed. What do you guys think?

911 turbos are heavier, they are 3200-3400lbs which is close to vette but slightly heavier. The base 911 is only 3000-3200lbs so about the same as a vette. You need to find out if its a 911 turbo or not. If its not a turbo then it has 325hp and 270trq. If its a S then it has 355hp and 290trq, and they come standard with rwd and the 4S has AWD. If its the 4S AWD 355hp hes gonna get you off the line and then you will need to play catch up. If its not a turbo then you have the advantage in a straight line IMO and should be able to pull it top end even if it has AWD. If it is a couple year old 911 turbo then its a high 11 second car at about 117-120mph and you will lose.
As for the looking like a beetle comment i strongly disagree, just because the headlights are both rounded doesnt make them look like a beetle.
This is the 99 and newer look, so if his looks like this then it has the stats i posted. 325hp base model, 355 for the S and 480hp for the turbo(which most say is underrated and they make 500-520hp.)

I ran a turbo with 150 shot on my WS6 up to 135. (Various mods apprx. 400rwhp at the time)I was right on his ass and ready to pass...up to the time I hit 5th gear and my 10 seconds of fame (and bottle) were done. Then he was ...adios amigos.

if its a 911 turbo, gt2, or gt3, he will beat you, but if its just a 911 non turbo i think you will take him.

Is your C5 Auto or M6. I think a non turbo 911 will be a close win for you, but like everyone else has posted, forget the rest. It may look like a beetle, but it damn sure doesn't drive like one.....

They are quite pricey i agree but junk no. They have extremely well built drivetrains and engines. They sell 6 cylinders N/A engines with 385, 435 and 450hp. As for looks i think the 911s, gt2, gt3, carrera gt, cayman s are all sexy cars. But of course looks are just personal preference.

i saw. the driver thats supposed to be very good was in the GT2. If he was driving the vetter i'm pretty sure that first run would have been a different story
