Thanks for the comments. It's a lot easier to run true duals when you don't have a torque arm, and panhard (or Watts Link), in the way.

What kind of setup do you have at your rear end? Can't quite make it out, but it looks different. Oh and your car is bad ass.

It's an independent rear suspension out of a '92 C4 Corvette.

Not that educated in the rear suspension department. What are the benefits, besides not have the torque arm connected to the tranny of course?

I would think a bit smoother ride and a little bit better handling around bumpy corners.

I don't want to turn this thread into a discussion about tech specs. The discussion has been had in the suspension section, and a certain other ls1 site. Search on IRS there.

    However, in brief:

    Pros:
    1. Lower unsprung weight
    2. each wheel follows the road independently
    3. better ride quality -see point 1 and 2
    4. More confidence inspiring when bumps are encountered -see point 1 and 2

    Cons:
    1. Greater complexity
    2. More power is soaked up by additional linkage, rotational resistance, and the tendency of the IRS to squat under acceleration.
    3. Not as strong as a comparably sized solid axle
    4. Not ideal for drag racing.
    5. Being as far as it is from a stock f-body setup it will place the car outside of competitive classes for drag, autox, or road racing.

I wasn't looking to side track the thread. Just looking for a quick explanation and I got one. Thanks.

Thanks, I get mixed reactions on them. You don't see them too often on a trans am, or f-body for that matter. They are Boyd Coddington Timeless II's. 17x9.5" on the front, 17x11" on the rear. Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-DS3 275/40/ZR17 on the Front, 315/35/ZR17 on the rear.

Is your car lowered? And if so, do the 315's fit good?

yes it's lowered on stranos on the front (1.25"), the rear obviously is a different animal, but that is also lowered 1.25". The 315's do fit well.

Tinting would look good, but I'm all for steering clear of law enforcement. I don't have LT's for that reason also.

LTs help you steer clear of police, just in a different way

Tough to out run a radio, but I was also concerned with clearance. Clearance concerns are also the reason the exhaust is 2.5", instead of 3".
