My new ride...
I just picked up a 40K mile SLP SS Convertible M6. Iv'e been a member of www.ls1.com for years since back in 02 when I had my WS6. I think the site changed since and I had to re register in 05. In only had my Red 87 Regal T Turbo at the time like my user name implies. I screwed up and wound up with "REDEGAL" instead of "RED REGAL". That's another issue though.
Anyhow, there are other LS1 fodies in the family as well. My father owns a salvage titled 99 SS M6 and my brother just recently picked up an 02 M6 T/A. I also own the 87 Turbo Regal (mentioned above) and my daily driver is a Grand Am. I was looking for something I could drive AND enjoy. The Buick isn't much of an everyday driver and the Grand am is kind of a beater.
This car kept winking at me everytime I visited Autotrader. It was for sale at a local dealer but they wouldn't come down on the price. I guess the manager was in a good mood one day because they called me out of the blue and accepted my original offer form weeks ago.
I was told it was an SLP SS which (I was told again) was Chevy's version of the Firehawk. There are a couple of goodies (like the "Camaro SS" floor mats and exhaust that look to be rare options. Also, there are SLP stickers on the inside of each door that have faded printing on them so I don't know what options SLP really slapped on it. I heard it might even have an Auburn rear.
Anyhow, I'm proud to be a member and here are some pics:Last edited by Redegal; 05-18-2009 at 09:49 AM.

Black- 98 SS
I joined LS1 in Dec. 98. The site has changed since. Nice car.
Chevy offered a SS version for 1996 to 2002. They built it as a Z28, then shipped it to SLP. SLP put a composite hood with a scoop on "ram air" as it feed into the air box, a rear spoiler, different suspension and an Auburn rear end.
If it is a true SS the drivers door will have a GM sticker that lists the RPO options on your car. If one of the options code is WU8 you have a true SS.
SLP was a class company that held a couple reunions for SS owners. They rented English Town drag strip one year and Milan in Michigan another.Proud Father of a USMC Master Guns Recon Marine

Thanks for the compliments. I looked around for a while and eventually narrowed my search to the Pewter color. It's definitley my favorite. I thought between the color, the fact that it's a Vert and the SS package, the car had a lot of class. I picked it up for $16K.
