Ignition Orange/Black- 2008 G8 GT, 98 Z28 383
I see shit like this every day at work. People in general cannot F^&*ing drive. I write more tickets to people for careless driving than I do for speeding. Every single day I see accidents that are preventable if people will pay Freaking attention to what they are doing. Sadly enough some of them are fatal. Keep in mind that you have to watch out for everyone else... Street racing is dangerous because of the unpredictability of other drivers. It doesnt matter how good a racer you are if some dumbass on the phone pulls out in front of you.

There is no way to ensure that there is Zero traffic. There is always the off chance that someone will come up a hill that you cant see from far off, or someone pulling out off of the side of the road. There is still the slight chance you could hit someone. What track are you close to in florida? Im not ripping on you as I used to street race too, but there is always a chance something can happen if you are not in a controlled environment.
I can see going from a roll on the interstate at night when there is no traffic close by and cutting it off at a decent speed, but actually staging the cars on a public road? That is craziness.

Florida is flat. There are no hills. Where we race, it's just straight lane roads with no turns or exits.... so nobody is going to be pulling out. Also there is a guard rail between the lanes, and we always scout the road for broke down cars, people, cops, and debris. We play it as safe as possible. The chances are very low we are endangering anybody, but ourselves. Of course we stage. There are no cars coming so why not?
It's not craziness. Craziness is two teenagers or idiots racing threw traffic and endangering others.

what part of florida? I know we have some hills in alachua county. Like I said, I am not ripping on you but there is always the chance something can go wrong... I agree with you that what you are doing is safer than most street racers. But there's always a chance of a freak accident.

how does this not have anything to do with street racing? its saying you dont know whats around the next corner, you dont know where people might be (the car flipping and hitting the couple) I dont know, i might be the first one to say this but NOT EVERYONE has the BRUTES us ls1 owners have haha, not every1 thinks street racing is a 1/4 run or a run to 100 on a straight road, some people strret race in suburbs and shit, thats what this video is trying to convey.

There are no traffic accidents!! There are only dumb ass people driving and disobeying tons of traffic laws. If people would drive normally there would not be any traffic crashes. My mother was killed by an asshole flying down the street without any regard for safety.
Its a traffic crash not a traffic accident.

Intense. That video put me on edge, and will definitely be in my mind when Im driving. You really do have to watch out for the other people on the road... whether its Grandma sittin on phone books looking THROUGH the steering wheel instead of over, the cheerleader texting on her cell phone, or the businessman shaving while reading the Wall Street Journal, you can never have control of other people's driving habits; and THATS what makes driving dangerous. Be careful, everyone.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
That had as much to do with "street racing" as my bicycle has to do with motorcycle racing....
Like has been stated: Back in the day (late 70's to late 80's in Los Angeles) we used to choose off and run on streets that were blocked off from thru traffic. The best setups were Pershing Drive behind LAX, the south bound Manchester on ramp for the 405, and Alameda at Del Amo. There were other smaller places but this is where the "big" action (trailered cars and the like) went down.
Anybody that ran crazy weaving in and out of traffic on the street and calling it "street racing" like a lot of the ricers do today would have been laughed out of the lot....
Mind you, we only did this after OCIR and Terminal Island were shut down.

The last sentence hits the nail on the head. California is the worst for this. Shutting more and more tracks down will only lead to more organized street racing. Some tracks have realized this and offer nights of grudge racing for cheap prices. Some cops have even gotten on that bandwagon trying to promote it.
Unfortunately alot of the younger generation doesn't support the local tracks and they hurt for revenue.
Even worse is alot of area with growth will fight against a track being built in the area, or even tracks already in exisitence,,,even the rural areas, not realizing what this causes in the long run. Prescott up here is going through that right now. The owner of the Yavapai fairgrounds has the acreage and the money to install a dragstrip on the grounds,,,he already has a 1/2 mile roundy round dirt track up here and has mud bog races every weekend,,,,so why not a quarter mile track????
Because there are a few ying yangs around here that complain, even though the noise is already there, and the closest subdivision is at least a mile away or more.
So unfortunately we have to travel 1 1/2 hours to the closest track near Wickenburg called Speedworld.
Long story short, more tracks are needed in convenient locations to deter organized street racing, I can do without the shopping malls and apartment complexes.

some pretty intense videos! It really took me by the heart. That just made me look at life in a different way. I have seen vids like this before but, WOW. I'm really going to be watching my driving very carefully even more. That's a very good eye opener to a lot of people.
Take Care, Always Thompzon

The people in the video need to learn situational awareness, and to pay attention. Everything bad that happened in that video that I seen could have been prevented just by paying attention or doing the right thing. The video had little to nothing to do with Street Racing. It didnt change my opinion of street racing only how many dumb ass drivers there are out there and I need to watch out for them now more than ever. I wouldnt street race around people or in traffic just because I know that there are some seriously bad drivers out there and you are never far from them.
I dont think that racing at this track here is much better or safer than even street racing. When we do go race we go out on the flat rivers flood plain highways and run out there at night. You can see anyone comming for miles. There is no traffic. And if we do something stupid well then its our fault, no one else is around to get hurt. We only race people that we know and make sure that both cars are mechanicly capeable of staying togeather. Eveyone is sober at the time too. But we dont do it alot and for the most part we are smarter than most people about it.
The Track nearest to me dosent even have a wall or barrier between the track lanes and the stands. So if something seriously wrong happens their is a possiblitly of alot more than just the driver(s) getting hurt. I dont consider a 3ft chain link fence to be a barrier, compared to a 3000lb vehicle at 50+ mph. At the track you are also lined up against people you dont know, and I dont know how well the Tech looked their car over before they race me, or even if they did. I may even be lined up with a Noob Ricer in a juiced or boosted car that he has never even tried to race before, and that scares me more than most things do.
Hell I've been to the track on TNT days and the TECH didnt even make me have my slicks on before I went in to be inspected. Honestly he didnt even make me pop my hood, even after the other Tech seen and pointed out my N2O purge lines comming out of my hood. No questions asked he let me race....no how fast is your car?, how big a shot are you running?, can I see your set up?, do you have a N2O dump? Do you have any protective gear? Nothing.
The safety/controled envirnment of the track here is only an illusion. I do think that it is safer where and how we race, even the road we race on is in better condition than the track.
