i am soooo tired of this heavy b.s......the new cars comming out are heavy for 1 fact..safety regulations....heavy = more material..more material= more money..car companies dont like that.....you wonder why the gto and the new maro weight in so much? saftey..these cars arent based on some 40 year old platform and we got lucky to get away with 3600lbs ourselves in our f-bodies. The only way to keep things light are to spend more money on lightweight material then to make it heavy..and for a car that is not its bluechip supercar..its not economically viable

This is pretty much simple math. Look at the power to weight ratio for each car. 13.04 is much faster than I've seen the local SRT-8's running.

He was an SRT8 and he claimed it to be one of the first available 6 speeds with a 6.1 liter. He was also on drag radials. Stock for stock my ass, he weighs almost 500 lbs more, like I weigh 700 lbs more than a C6, and an ls1 can run a 12.99 stock w/out drag radials.

Those cars are stupidly heavy. This was proven by that suspension package that came out a couple months ago stiffening them up and shaving 400 lbs off their weight.

They'll be scary in a year or two when they are reasonably priced and the aftermarket scene has gotten ahold of them better and lightened them up.

    Until then...meh. I'll keep my f-body.
They may crank 425 but to the wheels more like 365 and I've seen more than my share of STOCK LS1s put down 330-350 many times and run 12.9 with a shitty DA and no stickys. We added long tubes and header and hit 12.5 at 108. So yes DODGE SUCKS!!

THAT'S WHAT I"M SAYIN'!! The fact that it's a six-speed manual is what gave him his 13.04 and having Sticky Mickeys!!

I said "if he was stock". With DR's, he obviously wasn't. My point was that any stock car that can run 13.04 will beat a stock LS1 f-body most of the time. Most stock LS1 f-bodies (are there any left?) can't run a 12.99.

And you don't weigh 700 lbs. more than a C6.

Enlighten me on how you've never seen or heard of a stock ( yes on sticky tires) otherwise stock LS1 breaking into 12.**? There are plenty especially the ones with a good DA to race in.
And yes, by the scales at CAterpillar weigh station my WS6 is 386 lbs heavier than my buddies 2006 ZO6. Where do your facts come from? My car was at 3503 his at 3117. I agree it's not the exagerated 700 lbs but it is 400. That equals two heavy men riding with me as I race him!

If your 700 lbs. was an exaggeration, sorry I didn't catch that, being as the 500 lbs figure you used in the same sentence is pretty accurate. So, do sticky tires eliminate the "stock" tag or not? Never said I had never heard of a stock LS1 breaking into the 12's. But for every "stock" LS1 that breaks into the 12's, there's 10 (or more) other ones that can't reach the 13.04 mark. Note I did say "most" of the time.

I stand by my statement that a 13.04 time will beat a stock LS1 most of the time. Not defending the Challenger SRT-8 here, just saying it generically. Which of my facts are you questioning?
