Trans am Starting issue, Fuel Pressure Regulator?

Hello, I have a 1998 trans am convertible and have a starting problem. I have had the car for over a year. It would start cold just fine, but when it start warm it will take around 8 seconds. Also would start kinda ruff and would have a whining vibration noise for around 15 seconds after started. I have talked to some and they said it may be the fuel pressure regulator or the fuel pump. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Jim

Thanks both for yr replies. The noise is mostly under the hood. The sound from the back end is the normal fuel pump sound. Yes i will use a gauge and to see what it is. Now if it was the fuel pressure regulator would there be a noticable drop off or a low constant pressure during the time of the noise?

    Thanks

The fuel pressure would be low on an extended crank.

This noise sounds like it could be the Secondary A.I.R. pump
