Sorry it took me a few days to get back to you...I was in Atlanta for the weekend.
ok, lets give this a shot...power the PC off "hold the power button down for like 10seconds". As soon as you power the computer back up start tapping the F8 key "tap it 10-15times". Once the PC gets past the splash screen you should see a menu that gives you a few different boot options...use the arrows on your keyboard and select Safe Mode with Networking and login like you normally do. Try to get on the internet and let me know if you can or not...
it sounds like that PC is locked down with something "virus". If you cant get to the tools menu in your browser thats usually one of the signs...its not a big deal though. I have a lot of ways to get around it.2000 Black TA M6 - LT's, ORY, UMI Short Stick, TT2's, Drilled/Slotted Rotors, Braided Lines, and Tuned by Vengeance SCCA and Car Show Approved

it sounds like something is still on it...you can go ahead and run this too. Its got a video on the page on how to run it...run the registry cleaner a minimum of 2 times because it always finds more stuff after the 1st scan.

You will need to get a real deal anti-virus program on this PC though. have you run the combofix scan in safe mode or in normal mode?

If your refering to ccleaner it shouldnt require you to buy anything to run it. As for the keyboard if you have a ps2 port on the back go to a local computer shop and grab either a ps2 keyboard if they stock them or an adapter to turn the usb into a ps2 connector. No idea if BB still carries them in stores.
Next option take the dell outside grab the biggest hammer you can find and take out all frustrations. Thats usually what I want to do when someone asks me to help them with their dell.

I like kapersky and avast. I typically run the free versions unless its really bad.
