I am discussing it with the staff.
Without AAG posts, 5000 might be too high.
I can lower it, but I may remove the AAG posts to balance it.

I never said it was JUST a car board but it is a car board. People come here first because it's a car board.
I completely agree and if Ed stopped post counts altogether it wouldn't bother me. I was a member of the SLP board back in 99 when David stopped counts over there. It was like kicking the door open on a hen house. Everybody was raising hell about their umteen thousand posts that went bye bye. I don't understand it. Post counts are used by people to judge knowledge when they're the least dependable thing to judge by. They can be misleading for sure so if we didn't have them at all then that would level the playing field. The stick in the spokes is that vBulletin allows the admin to use post counts for a lot of things. I think Ed can still keep them active but not have them show.

All this started because of the VET thread.. Maybe we can leave the whole post thing alone and just go by the years.... all Im seeing is change on top of change, and then having to change something else because of a change that was just made.
Did your mother ever tell you that judging people is a

Too bad there can't be a tech post count and a separate AAG/other post count since some are worried about losing their post count.
The post count doesn't matter to me one way or the other. If you don't know who I am by now, then I don't matter to you anyway

And with this, comes previous threads that could have been moved to appearance and other car related topics where posts would count... those members might be a little ticked, cuz no one is going to go through all the previous threads and find which ones were or could have been post count worthy...
Im just trying to be sensitive to all sides.--like a women should
And again, this is all because of a Thread in the AAG - where post counts dont matter but you have to have a certain amount of posts to get in..?? Just doesnt make sense to me.

They counted before. All im saying is let those be, and let the new ones not count like they do now. No need to mess removal if we now they dont count.
Just too much change going on just for a vets thread.
I dont think there would be a discussion of that thread wasnt made and just the AAG posts stopped counting. There is just no reason to remove them.

but if you're wanting to give an area for the people that spend the time on the site helping people you have to have a good way of sorting out who those people are. Tech post counts are the easiest way and AAG posts mean the least. A newb that comes along isn't going to give a shit if their AAG posts aren't being counted. The only people that are gonna care are the people that have a shit ton of just AAG posts and my bet is that even 80% of those people won't care. They're here to shoot the shit....not see how many posts they can rack up.
