Arcan Floor Jack 3 1/2 ton $109 on sale now
I saw that and that one gets good reviews but I dont wan tto spend the $66 for shipping.

was just at sears...... 3 ton for $79 and a 4 ton for $149
Not bad but I want a low profile one and not made of aluminum.

I got mine at Walmart it has been a pretty good jack so far
This is the one I'll most likely get.http://www.walmart.com/ip/Torin-Jack...-Jack/14560043

But a good heavy duty 3 to 4 ton floor jack will cost $300 to $600 dollars
As a personal rule of thumb, I cut the stated max weight capacities in half when it comes to cheap jacks/supports..

Imho there's a reason good tools cost more..

Got the craftsman 3 ton for xmas. No problems used it a few times and then lowered the car and I can't use it now . So its a paper weight until I put it up for sale. O well live and learn. Anyone in the Kansas area wanting one??

this is the same one i have. had it for a little over 2yrs and works like a champ.

I also purchase a smaller version 3000lb one for like $60. works good as well but its harder to lift my car from the front (lowered on stranos).

Its appears we could start a "Craftsman Jacks Suck" support group... I have an all aluminum with the 2 stage... In theory its a bad ass jack... I could pump it 2 or 3 times to get it under the car and when it hit low gear i could pump from under the car with one of my legs... In practice it worked for prolly 75 lifts....

My buddy has the harbor freight and the only thing i hate about it is that it is a single stage... and its a pretty high geared single stage... I can literally put all my weight right on the tip and cant pick a car up... I weight just under 150 and its pretty much a useless tool to me...

How heavy is it. Is it easy to pick up and move around?

Dang this reminds me I need to get a decent jack at home. I've been doing a lot of side work lately. Borrowing (stealing) an 80 pound jack back and forth to work is a pain in the butt.

That's what I was afraid of. I don't have a shop. I do my work in the garage. So when I get finished I have to pick everything up and put it up.

I may end up getting two jacks. A low profile 2-ton for the cars, and a bottle jack for the truck.

BLK2KSS , I did infact buy that jack only to find that out of the box it didnt work and was rusty. Needless to say I returned it. I ended up buying a napa 3.5 ton on sale which I'm very happy with. Anyone still looking for the Arcan jack, I've heard that Cotsco sometimes carries them.

I believe you can purchase a rebuild kit for their jacks, but have never looked into it.
So what model did you get from Harbor Freight? I'm looking to go there this week and get a jack. They have a website if you can post the model or a picture it will help http://www.harborfreight.com.
