*****COBALT SS Supercharger******
Well one of my friends that has a Cobalt SS supercharged is been alittle cocky about his car lately and i wanted to know stock vs. stock does his car has any chance against my stock 1998 T/A. The only stat i know about his car is that it has 205HP and is supercharged. It sure looks like its a much lighter car than my T/A but im not sure about the exact number.
Anybody know much about these cobalts? any stat? any numbers?

the mags give 'em 5.7 0-60 times... I've never seen a stocker break 15.0 in the quarter at the track... he has no chance.

Lots of hatred in here for the F-body's little bro
They are prety fun cars, and quick enough considering their price and platform.
In stock form they put down about 205WHP. Yes, they are underated, that shouldn't be a surprise, considering the LS1 is too.
With a good driver, they run 14.5 @ 100MPH. Quicker than a new Civic Si, slightly slower than an SRT-4. The new ones are turbocharged, which should offer up some more potential.
And no, it won't beat a stock LS1. It might have a chance if it had a Stage 3 kit though.

I had one prior to my Z. I had a torque dampner installed(like a torque arm but a whole lot smaller), stage 2 tune and belt, 2.8 inch pulley(18psi), GMPP manifold, GMPP exhuast, CAI, nitto 555R rubber in front(225 wide). I aslo had a weapon r racing header but never got it installed. It hung with my friends ss 2-3 gear pulls in on the the freeway but by 100 he would have me by a car and a half. He had an exhuast, lid, md length headers, and a tune. My friend knows how to drive but so do I. When it was stock the coby put down 231HP and 206lbs tq at JBA's dyno. After the mods it put down 256HP and 249lbs tq. It was a fun car to drive but suprisingingly expensive to mod. I wrecked after a year then got my z. But I had allot of kills from 350Z's, mustangs, SRT4's, G35's, S2000(with 2other passengers in the car from a dig) never beat an LS1 though... Stock for stock LS1's beat alotta cars out there.

Got stomped by a stage 2 that had tons of money dropped in it.. guy apparently spent all his army bonus on it.. BUT.. that was the FIRST DAY I got my car..
Never changed plugs, Fuel filter clogged, tranny fluid blacker than oil,and tons of poorly repaired crap...and it was about by 1/2 a car length that he got me...
Slaughtered many since...

stock cobalt SS will not break the 15 second mark. Edmunds.com put them at 15.4. All the mags put them around that area. Maybe if the track was a downhill soapbox derby lane then maybe 14's.....just maybe. Not a bad car for the price though. And very inexpensive to upgrade!

Incorrect info sir.
There are two models. The SS is the 2.4L 170HP version, that runs about 15.4.
The SS Supercharged is the one that runs mid 14's, which has been documented by countless sources since the cars introduction in 2005. With a competent driver, a 14.5 @ 99-100MPH can be expected.
