Steve replied....he said as long as I can give him all the details he can come just as close as you can get while using a dyno for fine tuning. So yeah he can give me a tune for start up and break in.

sounds like a good plan. I still have to figure break in. since the car has been parked I took the road insurance off, will most likely renew that and give her some miles before the full tune

Mine is under "storage" coverage. That way if anything happens it is still covered. Cost $15/month.

Same here, it's 30 a month for me. It's been some slow months driving my truck everywhere lol.

Got everything apart last night, machine shop is the next stop for everything.
Basically at a stand still engine wise besides cleaning the deck surface. Will be transferring all the components to the new Kmember soon and prepping the car for re installation.

I got my carb cleaner, WD40, rags, and q-tips plus thread chasers to start cleaning my block this week end. Already told the wife after work tomorrow I'll be camping out in the garage till Christmas eve.

I need to lay out everything and do a full inventory of parts and stuff. Make sure no gremlins walked away with stuff.

I tried swapping out the oil fill tube off the oil valve covers and it broke/cracked.

Been waiting on the machine shop to open up after the holidays but i think this build might take a new direction, most likely in the direction you're going in Scott. Found an LQ9 at a decent price and after going over everything it looks like a better way to go.
Going to look at it tomorrow

Bonus is you can resale your LS1 block and recoup some costs.

My son and I spent the last 6 hrs cleaning most of the bolt holes (couldn't get the back of block yet). Damn there is a shit load of bolt holes.

Cylinder head bolt holes seem to be the worst to clean. 3 of them had crap compacted in so hard I had to make a pick long enough to get it loose.

Will lend me his thread chasers and I will say they are an investment that pays off.

Definitely a plus, only thing is the ls1 is in pieces lol

Just had to pull the head on a friend of mines car and while it was out we used the stock bolts and made thread chasers, they worked out pretty good

HAHA an angle grinder, a vice, and some patience. I made a couple but those two came out the best. The spiral one was just for fun but it worked

I have a Craftsman threadchaser set that sees frequent use. Nice work on the homemade versions, Alex.

Got the block disassembled, cleaned and ready for paint tomorrow. Agreed Scott, that balancer was definitely a pain at first. Managed to flip the arms on my puller and grab the back outer part of the pulley and got it off. Hopefully tomorrow i can get it painted and measure pushrod length so i can get those ordered.
Should look pretty good considering it what it looked like when i got it

Engine came out of an 06 Silverado and pretty much everything under the hood was toast but the block. I was skeptical at first but the block itself is in great shape and for the price i couldn't pass it up. They were asking 1000 and i drove off with the whole short block for 600, well worth the extra cleanup.

Been working with numbers trying to determine my static/dynamic compression
The LQ9 along with my 243 should put me around 11.3:1 and my cam puts me at around 8.7:1 Dynamic
Debating on swapping out the cam for something a bit different for the new setup.

Made more progress today. Torque wrench is at a friends so I could only go so far. Should be just about complete this weekend. And criticize me for cleaning the pistons if you want but I did it anyways lol.

Paint is done, cam is in, and again I'm at a dead stop
