best headers
So I'm debating on doing headers. What is the best kind to get? I was looking into pacesetters since I have a Flowmaster 40 series with a cutout. I just want it to sound more aggressive and throaty. Please post any suggestions! Also, am I going to have to do a lot of rearranging to make the headers fit or will they go right in. I've never done this obviously.

Does'nt much matter the heads are the restriction..

If it had'nt been for the auto parts screwing things up it should have only taken about 6-8 hrs start to finish.. Including letting the paint dry.. It was a pain in the ars! Because our engine sits back farther than the ls powered cars and I'm a large guy with big hands..jk

FFF are the only ones making Long Tube Headers for 3800 F-Bodies, these would be the best, unless you went custom:

Pacesetter is NOT a LT for 3800...
Torque & HP #s are off -- for WHAT?

Leaving out the details, I see.
"Headers, 1-5/8" Equal-Length 1997-03 Series II 3800 Grand Prix/Regal/Monte Carlo" -- no F-Body listed.
"NOTES: Fits 1997-2003 Pontiac Grand Prixs, Buick Regals, and Chevrolet Monte Carlos equipped with the 3.8-liter "3800 Series" V6 (supercharged or naturally aspirated)."

"The best" meaning LTs will give gains greater than shorties or mids, such as Pacesetter. Nobody else is offering 3800 F-Body LTs, AFAIK.
If you want details on dyno proof, contact the guys who designed them: FFF.Last edited by libertyforall1776; 09-14-2010 at 09:24 PM.

Okay now we 're getting somewhere.. Would you say the gains are better low mid or high? All of the above.. How's the curve? Do they get you out of "all low end" type torque? I would like to know as I would like to build a set in the future.. I get that you don't have the numbers @ this point.. I would like to understand what and where "the best" comes in is all man..

See post #16.
What do you care, you are building your own. Seems like you are just trolling.
The OP has an '01 with the improved design manifolds, so shorties and mids will yield little compared to the older manifolds, and LTs will be the better choice for where you would notice it most at the low end.

I also own a loaded 01 Camaro y87.. I've never messed with LT's.. Trolling.. Hardly.. I've got 20 years in just GM v6 alone... 3800 already has good low end.. Infact that's where ALL of it's torque resides.. They need more top end imho.. They fall on their face before the curve @~ 2500 stock..
