What to expect????
Ive got a 99 Z 6 spd. with ALOT of mods. Went to start it Monday after a week and a half of siting and it starts and pops all at once. Now I got a window in the pan in line with #2 cylinder. I havent started tearing into it yet, The only thing I can figure is broke rod.. ganna try to get it out this weekend. Other than a leaky injector what could have caused it?

could be broken rod if #2 was hydrolocked but that's kind of hard to really do. You may just have to start tearing into it

Ive seen a couple of instances where water "rained down" on the motor from the cowl. Somehow the water made its way into the motor, im gonna assume around the intake gasket or possibly the injector o-rings, and when they are started, they pretty much immediately throw a rod.

The engine is dry. The only way it could get water on it is if it were to sweat

Get your injector for that cylinder checked. You wouldn't be the first one to break a rod from this........

Dr.Crash had that happen to him apparently, he might be able to help but you may have to e-mail him as he has not been on for awhile.

+1
+1 if you had a leaking injector it could dump raw fuel into your cylinder and have to much combustion and Pop a cylinder right in half ( Sounds like a gun shot is the only at to describe it )the only way to tell 100% is to start tearing the heads off and inspect the damage worst case that is and you have some cool lookin paper weight's like the notorious #7 cylinder on the ls1 that just go out of no where. Good luck with the Tear down give your self a weekend with some buds or do it yourself like i like to do then u have plenty of time not to rush , what kind of mods do you have ????

I run a restoration shop, so I have everything to do it myself, rushing wont be necessary.

If it is a leaky injector I bet 10-1 it is the rod. Every case I have seen it has ALWAYS been the rod........
