pulsing lights
I hardly ever use my headlights (once every few months). This morning I noticed while driving to work that my lights were pulsating. They weren't completely turning off/on but they were getting slightly dimmer, constantly. It was doing this while I was going 70ish mph. Not so noticeable while at a stop light.
Anybody know whats causing this???
Thanks,2002 WS6 M6, SLP Intake, MAF, Strut Tower Brace, Borla Exhaust.

Some of the diodes have croaked in the alternator.

so, does that mean my alternator is going out soon?

well if he is correct than yes. alternators have rectifying diodes in them to convert ac to dc voltage

Black- 1998 Trans Am
My 98 has done this intermittantly since I bought it with 19,000 miles on it 10 years ago. Still does it to this day, But it's only once and a while.

will have someone check it out.
battery is about a year old so I would "Hope" that it is okay still. but would rather it be the battery because its still under the warranty.
but would it even be the battery? oh well, i'll just have them both tested.

new or used......how much can your wallet stand?

wallet can handle it. what would be an advantage of upgrading? I dont really run a big stereo inside so I'm not sure if an upgrade is needed. ??? If upgrade meant it would last longer then that would be cool.

would the an "upgraded," rather from a truck or not, last longer?

1999 Formula WS6 M6-sold- 2001 Silverado Z71
as far as I know, longevity isn't a big issue with the stock LS1 alternator, so I would say no. The truck "upgrade" has more to do with its increased amp output.
