is it possible to pull a F-body motor from the top
is it possible to pull a 02 trans am motor out the the top, or do you have to pull it out the bottom with the front suspension.

You can, but out the bottom is probably far less aggravating. Those that have done it will post up their experiences.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
With a couple of exceptions (and those were because they were doing an aftermarket tubular sub-frame), every one I know pulls them out from the top.

If all you're looking to remove is the motor - out the top is the way to go. As said, it's not too hard.
Besides, it's tough to find someone to catch it when you drop it out the bottom....It's not how fast you can go. It's how fast you can get there.

What are your plans with the engine???? Whats your reason for wanting to do this???? Is it to install a cam/heads combo or something internal?

Motor needs new rings and bore out, burns oil pretty good. still runs good but, just doesn't like all the smoke.

Pull the valve springs (nut shell) and pick up a set of new seals. Much less work and if that is'nt the problem your not out all that time and labor of pulling your motor only to find crosshatching still in your bores.. There's a fitting you can buy to pump compressed air into your cyliders to hold the valves up while you work on your seals. Just have to turn the motor manually to close each set of valves, working on one cylinder @ a time..

Yep!! There is NO reason to even THINK about pulling your engine for a reason you can't confirm prior to.........Do as the guys above suggested, safe yourself a HEADACHE!

Compression test. Test the cylinder dry and then with a small squirt of oil. If there is a considerable increase in compression then it is a ring sealing issue. If not, it is either the valves or valve seals.
