PCV boot - intake side - help
I have a rip in the boot that goes between the pcv valve and the intake
manifold. 2000 Formula. I went to the dealer to get a new one, and they
only sell the complete end to end system for roughly $100! I figured I would
take the old one off, and see if I could somehow repair it, plan to do it this
weekend. Anyone ever done this before and may have some tips? Biggest
question is how to get it off????? THanks in advance!

use a piece of standard 3/8 fuel line hose or emmissons hose.Any auto store has it.

Thanks! Does the boot just slide off of the intake manifold? Looking at
pictures of manifold upgrades, it looks like there is a tube sticking out of it,
but looking at my car, it almost looks like the boot is set into the stock
manifold.

It just slides off,but be careful it might me stuck on.Carefully work it off and what you will see is a small 3/8 nipple, just use a standard piece of 3/8 inch fuel line hose.Good Luck.

Worked great! I went 1 step extra though. I used about a 6" piece of hose
from the intake manifold to the pcv, and added about a 6" piece of hose from
the other side of the pcv to where it normally connects. Put a 3/8 to 3/8
elbow on the bottom of the pcv boot and relocated it vertically to behind
the belt tensioner.Last edited by chuckstop00; 03-07-2008 at 07:50 AM.

Please take that setup off and put it back like the factory had it.You just set yourself up for disaster.Oil is going to accumulate in that elbow becuse of gravity and when it fills up the hose completly its going to get sucked as a single shot into the engine. It may not hurt anything but i wouldn't chance it.The factory setup the pcv valve in such a way that it can't pool oil.

Wow. Thanks Rivi. I have been on vacation, so hadn't had a chance to check
back. I thought that this would accomplish the same thing as the PCV mod
(forgot where I saw it) that I had installed before. It basically did the same
thing, relocating the pcv vertically. But now that you mention it, it does seem
like there would be some collection of oil below the pcv. Hmmm. Can't seem to
figure out the best way to go here . . . . any other ideas?

Take a stock spark plug wire/boot for the ls1 motor. Cut the wire off and remove the spring and assembly from the inside the boot and you will have yourself an exact replacement for the pcv rubber boot!

I went to my local hardware store and bought me some rubber shrink hose. Showed the the part they cut me a piece and I used a flame to shrink it on.
