K&N Filter Or Holley????
I have a MTI Clear lid, blue MAF ends and will be getting the SLP smooth bellows. What filter should I get, The K&N or the Holley? Is one better than the other in terms of fitting right and power gialns?
PS, what are the part numbers for both filters? I have a 2000 Z28
Thanks, Jason

Which Company makes the blue filter? WIth the blue MAF ends I would match it up with the filter. K&N is red, I think the Holley might be blue

I bought the MAF ends off a guy here along with the MTI clear lid both for $50. He said the company who mad the MAF ends is out of bussiness and does not make them anymore.
I was asking about the two filter cuz some one told me that the Holley seals better than the K&N. I will go with what everone gives me the best power gain.
Thanks, jason

I've heard they're both nice. K&N is obviously one of the more popular ones . My K&N seals great and plus you can buy sealing grease to make it seal even better!

I know i would not get more than 5 at the very most. With the MTI clear lid, smooth bellows, filter and MAF ends that would compleat the induction side.
Now the exhaust!!!!!!!

I heard that the oil on the holly dose'nt effect the maf, where as the k/n will.

They are all a cotton gauze type air filter. The oil is also the same. I would suggest either one.

I love my K&N. I might be lucky but the oil has not effected my maf.

Neither will hurt it if you don't over oil, both will hurt it if you do.

Either will perform about the same. Just make sure you do not over oil it, which will get on your MAF sensor and cause errant signals to the PCM, resulting in crappy performance. However, it is not a hard problem to correct. Just get some non-residue electronic cleaner, spray it on the sensor wires and they're clean in a few seconds.

Yes, that is critical. It must be non-residue. Not all electrical component cleaners are non-residue. At Radio Shack, they have two cleaners side-by-side on the shelf. Read the labels and you will see that one leaves a slight residue for corrosion control, while the one you want says non-residue.

I bought a Fram AirHog and am very happy with it.They are cheaper than the K+N and look nice under the clear lid(I have that too-very showy when popping the hood).I have seen dyno tests where removing the filter altogether shows no power gain so the filter area is sufficent to allow airflow without any loss in horsepower.Of course gains can be had with the filter lid and other mods-just not the filter alone in the f-body.

isn't it true that the holly dos'nt require the backing tape on the ss.Ithought it was a perfect fit, whereas the k/n requires tape.
