Doors locking by themselves
For whatever reason when the car sits any lenght of time the doors lock. Keys in the ignition or not---Don't matter. If I did'nt have spare keys around I'd be'd screwed....It has keyless remote and can't quite figure this out. I've tried other people's remote in the house thinking that their's could be doing this but no....

never heard of that one....it does it regardless of where the keys are? Like if the keys are out of range it does it? What about if it's parked at a different location or something? I would try all those things to see if it's on the car side or fob side and if it could be radio interference from something else.

Does sound odd does'nt it ???? Don't matter where the keys are---In it----Out of it---In my pocket..... Seems to do it at any random time....
Parked in the garage or the basement which is about 40ft away and alittle lower than the garage.....
All I know I've learned to keep a extra set of keys handy....

Check your owners manual, I know some cars have an automatic locking feature for the factory (or non-factory) alarms that will lock the doors by themselves after a period of time, if the programming is set that way. Can't remember if the F-bodies did it tho.

^^^ I agree. I've also had internally shorted door lock switches do that. If the door lock switch has ever gotten really wet or covered with snow (then melted), there is a possibility of internal corrosion and a short circuit.

Looks like your car has a mind of it's own...it's only trying to protect itself.

try your cell phones too.....one of my friends works at a photo shop. he has to keep his cell phone turned off at work because anytime it rings it would set all of the remote flashes off in the shop

This one made me laugh............I was laughing "after " I found my spare keys.
All the above replys has me definitely thinking.
One other thing I might add is the car isn't driven much. So this could happen after maybe 3-4 days to as much as 2-3 weeks.... No rhythm or reason when this happens. Though its just happening within the last year.....
Only thing I can think of and I don't think it has anything to do with it is that I installed a Diablosport Predator tune.... Guess I could take it out and see what gives.......Other than that I have no idea.

My dad has had the exact same thing happen to his 92 suburban, no rhyme or reason, the doors would just randomly lock, usually in cold weather as it was ideling in the drive way. Its not unheard of, not sure what the fix was though.

First thing to check is see if when they lock if the alarm sets itself too. Also try changing the battery in the remoted.

After I wrote the last reply I went down and tried my doors to see if they would open after about a week or so......The mother ----ers were locked. Unlocked them the key and waited to see if the alarm would go off and it didn't.........Been around week or more that I've tried them.
The keys and remote were downstairs. NOT EVEN in my site........-u-ker is really making me think......

I installed a new battery in the remote but apparently you have to reprogram after installing a new battery to make it work again...... Not enough time tonite..will get back to you to see if this makes a difference.... Did'nt think you would have to this....
