Anyone with MT, Weld Pro Stars on 4th Gen F-Body
I have a 2000 Trans Am, WS6, A4 with 3.73 gears and I just purchased a set of Weld Pro Stars. I bought 15x3.5 for the fronts and 15x10 for the rears. My question is what size MT tires should I run on the fronts and rears. I have been told that MT 26x6.00R15LT Sportsman S/R for the front are a good choice and MT 275/50R15 DR for the rears. I would like the rear fenders to be full without any rubbing when hitting bumps. Any suggestions will be greatful and pics of your setup with tire size will be a plus.
Anyone running a 28" rear tire? What will be the difference in running a 26" tire or a 28" tire?Last edited by WS6ICK; 11-12-2008 at 12:18 PM.

It sounds like you are planning to run them all the time on your TA? Slicks make your car feel like it floats cause of their sidewall. I hate how mine does when I have the MT on, always feels like its fishtailing. I dont think that the ETs will last long on the street.
I run 26s on mine. Be prepared to do A LOT of grinding on the rear Calipers to make the Pro Stars fit. Make sure that you have new brake pads on so they are thicker so you dont have to grind on them more later when you get new pads and your calipers rub on the wheels.

That front tire is huge.
Are you sure you are running radials?? If so, get a radial front tire.
A lot of guys (myself included) run 165R15 generic ones. Kumho makes a decent cheap one as well.
As for tire size...
The taller the tire, the better the traction. But you have to be geared to pull through the taller tire as well, as taller effectively lowers gear ratio.

The 165R15 is the size of the tire. They are roughly 26" tall, like our stock tire.
With the 3.73's, a 26" tire is what I would try. 275/50/15 MT DR. I had them for a while, hook great.
It will be under-geared a little though. I am with 4.11's and a 26" or 27" tire. Been thinking of jumping up to 4.56's....or at least 4.30's.
