chrome vs polished aluminum
Ok I know difference in them.... but is chrome worth the price difference.. My rim over all would be about 150 dollars cheaper. Not a lot... but is chrome that much easier to keep clean and is polished have to be polished regularly to keep shine... any info is appreciated

Chrome can be wiped clean with a little windex and a rag.
Polished aluminum on the other hand needs routine buffing to keep looking nice. Otherwise it gets dull over time.
Just depends on how much time you like to spend cleaning.
The only issue with chrome wheels is sometimes you run into peeling issues on the cheaper rims.
Actually polished aluminum wheels with a clear coat is a nice option. I've had great luck with that. Alot of factory wheels from various car manufactures have been doing that for years. It's easy to clean as well.Last edited by Firebirdjones; 08-02-2009 at 03:41 PM.

Both my sets of wheels are polished aluminum.
Chrome will normally start to flake after a while. Aluminum requires more attention. I don't mind giving my car attention.

I'm very happy with my polished TTIIs. A little more maintenance perhaps but, worth it IMO.
You have to be dedicated to cleaning every now and then so, if you don't think you can handle the cleaning and poishing, don't get them. Go chrome instead.

i personally like polished because it can shine if you want it too but i also like the dulled look because chrome is too flashy for me

Chrome looks ghetto IMO Good on sedans or luxury cars ect. Polished aluminum looks more performance oriented. They do require maintenance though. Keep the degreaser FAR away from them. Use only mild soap and hit them up with some neverdull once in a while.

polish and have someone powdercoat an acrylic clear over them, now thats an easy way to take care of polished wheels.

I say chrome for a DD if its just a weekend warrior or show car go polished. Had Polished on my z28 which was my dd and hated it. They looked great but the maintinece was rediculous especially here in fl where it rains every day during the summer. I'd usually hit them with polish every other week(which adds an easy 30min to your car wash process) which would get them by then every 3 months or so they would come off and get a full detail polish inside and out which was a couple hour process. Now I have chrome on my GTO DD, spray them down with water some chrome wheel cleaner and run a sponge over them and there done and look as good as new. Now having both I don't think I will ever put polished wheels on a DD ever again.

Testing out a little something with my polished TTII's....
I polished them before the Colorado cruise a few weeks ago, and used RejeX on everything before putting them back on the car.
So far so good, they clean up VERY easily and still look great. Of course, only been a few weeks.

I like pollished, chrome seems to flake years latter and rust.

Chrome FLAKES! ask me how I know! Go for polished wheels and get them powdercoated/clearcoated by a GOOD shop. no worries now...
I hear chrome tends to not want to stick to aluminum very well, especially if the aluminum is not prepped right(rough surface for chrome to BITE). My .02...

Polished vs. Chrome
If you are going to use your car on track, it's better to use polished wheels. It's easier to polish out a little heat, stress, and abuse than it is to pay to rechrome the wheels.
If you're street only, the chrome wheels look great and are easy to care for.
