red- 2001 formula
Speaker question
I was driving my daughters 01 formula today listening to the radio [monsoon] when I noticed that one of the speakers in the back seat sounded very basey and vibrating. I removed the speakers from each side. The radio still sounds great. My question is there is a single connector with dual pick up wires going into them. Can I buy those kind of aftermarket speakers or can I just eliminate the dual hook ups and go with a single like most conventional speakers?

You can. FWIW, the OE Monsoon in the Trans Ams had the dual connectors on the sail panel subs because of the separate voice coil in them. A wiring diagram for the Trans Am Monsoon system showed 12 speakers, and the Camaro had 10, difference being the integrated voice coil in the TA. I replaced my sail panel subs with OE units until I upgraded with 2 10" subs mounted on the trunk divider panel. I do know there are a limited number of speakers that will fit in the sail panel, if you check this section you will find a few suggestions. These speakers are crossed over so they only get low frequencies.
