Is the GTO really this slow
I was driving down hwy 100 where everyone races, i was in my 87 supra instead of the T/A this night. A blue GTO pulls next to me reving it and staring me down, so i rev back so he can hear the blow off valve. We go from a 35 roll and i instantly pull 1 car by the time i got to 110 i had 5 cars atleast on this guy, and he was an m6. My supra from a 35 roll doesnt start pulling on my T/A until about 60 and up to 110 only has about 2 cars 3 at most on my Trans Am. So i ask are 6.0 GTOs really that slow? He had atleast exhaust.

don't know maybe he started in the wrong gear. hell I let a diesal gmc 2500 beat me because I didn't shift down from 5th. lol he pulled pretty good. I was toying around with my car. just gotten it. so yea who knows.

I heard him drop into second from 4th, sound kinda like my T/A when i do. I mean i know my supra would beat one but worse than it beats my T/A thats just weird.

Well that explains it i thought they were high 12s, my T/A runs a 12.9 and my supra a 12.6.

B2300 (Fluffy) Retired- Plain-Jane Dodge Truck
From the factory, and stock to stock, the average LS2 GTO (MY 05/06) is at least as quick, and probably quicker than the average LS1 F-body. Bone stock LS2s have broken into the high 12s (so have a few F-bodys). There are a few bone stock LS1 GTOs (MY 04) that have gone 13.1. I guess it depends on your definition of "slow", but I wouldn't consider them any such thing.
Overweight maybe. Boring to look at maybe. But not slow.
And what is this fascination with hearing a blow-off valve? Seems like every kid with an import that has a turbo (factory or otherwise) makes sure he builds some boost before each shift just so he can hear the noise as he lets off.
Must be a manly thing that I just don't get. Maybe I'll start intentionally grinding 2nd gear so I can people's attention.

results sound about right to me. a typical driver isn't getting even mid 13's out of ls2 goats from what i've seen at a local track. i'm sure a better driver could though the car is capable.

I let him hear the blow off valve cause mine isnt stock and i think they sound cool, i own a T/A aswell so i like the sound of american muscle and turbos hopefully i can someday combine them.
I ddint ask why my supra beat a GTO i knew it would i asked why it beat it worse than it does my T/A thats all.

2 things I have to add to this topic.....
First, some people have zero clue how to drive. There was a LS2 M6 GTO up at LVD last week when we were racing. The kid probably I'm sure thought it was fast on the street when he was picking on honda civics and such. He brought it to the track and everyone in my Impala club, and probably everybody else at the track, was laughing at him. Best he did all day was a 14.8 at 93mph.
Second, me and my buddy just went to the track tonight. I took down my TBSS to do a little T&T and he brought down his 05 A4 GTO for its first run at the track. He started at 13.6 but eventually learned how to launch the car and get it dialed in. He got it to two 13.29 runs and the last run of the night took it to a 13.19 and no the DA did not change that drastically to click off almost half a second. Given the proper driver, they are not slow at all. Hell, my LS2 SUV was runnin 13.6s w/ some minor mods....
Edit: Oh and Bob, this thing is hella easier to launch then the 3400 stalled Imp!!! I cut a .051 to start, then a .005 then .011 then a .023 to finish the night. Man its easy to cut lights when you're only goin 2.0s! Sorry for the thread jack......96 Imp SS- 12.74@103, 1.74 60' out of fuel
06 AWD TB SS- 12.58@106, 1.76 60'

if the ls2 goat was lighter we wouldnt be having these kind of threads....
it would kill an f body stock for stock. personally a 13 is pretty damn fast to me. dont know of alot of cars that break into the 12s for less than 30k....stock
i could be wrong as usual....

Torch Red- 1999 Corvette Hardtop
I test drove one, a 05 blue LS2 M6, it was o.k. I was not that impressed. The dealership let me keep it all night. So i drove it alot, I raced a 01 SS with only full exhaust, Knn/lid, tune and some MT DRs. I hung with him in 1st and second, he pulled me in 3rd and 4th.
I was curently driving my 99 TA M6 and the GTO felt just a tad slower than my car. And my TA ran a high 12 sec qaurter.
Just my 2 cents.
But I loved the interior, all kinds of cool gadgets. I didnt like the exterior though.

My nephew has an '06 A4 GTO, with a tune and drag radials, he runs 12.8-12.9, he hasn't even changed the intake or exhaust. Slow they are not.

Stock many run in the high 12's. Yes they are pigs though....however they also are very easy to slim down (weight wise) and equally easy to mod an extra 100 RWHP out of em....then they are in the high 11's low 12's. I'm in the high 10's and still street legal with A/C...leathers seats and surround sound
All motor. This is my signature. It is mine. Nobody else has one like it.

im so sick of this shit...ls2 goats are low 13 sec cars=fact
with a good driver and launch they are high 12's=fact
from a roll they are on top of the list (better than a ls1)....so unless your 87 supra is a high 12 sec car, than he wasnt racing, couldnt drive, or your full of shit01 m6 z28 - lid / lt headers / 3' ory w no cats / flowmaster catback w 3' dmh e-cutout / nelson pcm tune

As stated early my 87 supra runs a 12.6 and asked why he lost so bad not why he lost, i asked how my 2000 T/A runs closer to my supra.
