Trans and Program
Guys,
If could get a little advice on my senerio it would be great. I have a 1996 Trans Am and I have built a good LT1 for it. This is what I have done thus far.
1. Bored and Stroked (Eagle Rotating Assembly) 383 CUI...
2. 58 mm BBK throttle body
3. Pace Setter Long Tube Headers
4. Ported and Polished Stock LT1 heads
5. MSD 6-A-L
6. MSD OPTI, Cap and Rotor
7. NEW wires and plugs
8. 2800 TCI stall
9. Custom Exhuast 3" with 40 series Flow Master
10. Lowering Springs all 4 corners (Eibach)
11. 1.6 roller rockers (Comp)
12. Comp (Beehive Springs)
13. Comp Cam (.584 In./ .579 Ex.)
14. M/T ET Drag Radials
15. Forged JE Pistons 12.5 to 1
I have ran the car on the 1/8 mile and the times were consistant at 7.50's (20 passes or so)
After 300 miles of putting this all together the transmission blew. I have not used LT1 edit or any other programs, due to I have not been sold on a good program or don't have the knowledge of additional programs editors.
I would like your feed back as to what I should use and if this was the reason that the trans went out as well. The car has 117000 original miles on it.
I know that I need to use some sort of computer editor to get the motor to a optimal state, also know that I need to change the metrics of the Trans.
Also I would like to know if you guys would rebuild the 4L60e or use another trans due to the items I listed above.
Any help or feed back, I would be greatful
thanks again

I think the 20 passes with out a tranny cooler is what took out the tranny. Are you telling me also that you drove this car 20 passes and 300 miles on a stock tune? Are you using stock injectors?

probably the transmission "broke" because it has a lot of miles already and the new engine is producing more torque than the old engine. But i'm just guessing. And I hear LT1 edit is good for making your own custom settings but i don't know how to use it.

As far as a tune goes, I would recommend allowing a professional to do it. LT1Edit is still an excellent tuner software, and their are even new programs like the one from JET for the LTX. BUT, most importanlty leave the tuning for the professional.
