One tire only laying down rubber?
So, I did a couple burnouts by my school and i've noticed theres only 1 tire streak resulting from the burnout...I did them while making a right turn. Shouldnt i see 2 tire streaks lol. Plus i've noticed a thudding noise coming from the rear, most likely the u-joints? My car has 72000 miles on it with 2.73's. All LS1 camaros have posi-traction right? So i guess my rear end is toast?

If you have a torsen they don't lock up good around corners and will only leave the one wheel wonder mark.

Try doing a burn out from a stand still, if you got two tread marks your in the clear. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but they are actually equipped with a limited slip differential. Its designed to do exactly what it did, otherwise when you turn the corner and your not burning rubber your outer tire would just drag and possibly break an axle. However the thudding from the rear end makes it seem as if someone has installed a locker such as a Detroit EZ-locker.

you don't have u-joints in the rear end, they are just axle's and the rear gears (not trying to be a smartass

oh okayyy...so i guess thats normal. I've been meaning to do a burnout stand still but my car is so loud now, im afraid of getting caught haha. Yeah i know the u-joints arent in the rear end, but im actually not sure if the u-joints are the problem...Thats pretty cool that 2 tires dont spin around a corner. I thought they would, hmm. thanks guyz

ehhh...its not really LOUD, its just annoying to know that its there. It mainly happens when I first start driving the car but then it starts to dissipate. I believe I've been hearing it more lately, however. Its not that its loud but its like a clunking, thudding, vibrating noise, especially up hills and on turns...

Kinda makes me think there is a locker in there, only one way to find out for sure tho. I'm sure it will be fine.

I'd guess it's a posi unit that needs a rebuild or to be replaced.

any torsen once starting to spin around a turn will only stay one tire fire,
the torsen carrier and the auburn cannot be rebuilt. but only replaced with a known good unit, good luck trying to find one.
your clunking is probably the drive shaft, gm has a tsb out on it for years know, or possible the trans mount, or lca's.
try doing a burnout in a straight line, see if they wheels lock up, if not you can try changing your fluid to a 75 90 syn, if still no luck its time for a new carrier and some 373's.

Okay, well I did a burnout in a straight line today and low and behold there were 2 tire marks. So what do you think I need? Some new U-Joints for the driveshaft?

Couldn't hurt, wouldn't want to throw the shaft on a car like that.

just buy the aluminum one from a part out, it will fit right in, youll spend more money and time taking the drive shaft down, over paying for some spicer u joints then waiting to be pressed in, yatta yatta yatta, by the time you get outta there you gonna be looking at at least 75 bucks,
just pick up a nice aluminum for about 100, also check the trans mount and lca's,
