RED- 2003 MUSTANG
engine swap?
you always hear of ls1 swaps in fords but has anyone swapped a ford engine into a 4th gen camaro? i miss the performance and sound of my mustang and i have access to a 4.6 and complete drive train. i know the ls1 and 6speed in my car now is worth more but i could use the extra money for more mods. ive searched and cant find any useful info on this swap and any help is appreciated.

Then sell your car and go buy a mustang.
I sold my newer mustang to get my 02 LS1 car because it HAD NO POWER!
Thats just craziness.Last edited by jrbonds; 05-11-2011 at 11:11 AM.

And no, no one has swapped a 4.6 into a ls powered vehicle......wouldn't make sense.
Think about it.....you hear about ls swaps into Fords, but not the other way around.......there's a reason......

Yeah...
I mean the sound is one thing but I for sure would not go seconds slower in the 1/4 just for sound. I love LS1 sounds anyway. And it's not like the 4.6 responds to bolt-ons better because, well that's just not true either. Can't go wrong with a pushrod . Please don't do the swap2002 Black/Ebony M6 WS6: Lid, Filter, Smooth Bellow, P&P TB (!Bump Stop), Magnaflow Cat-Back (dumped after the axle), 4.10s, Hypertech ME Tune, eibach springs 4/4, LCA relocating brackets, PHB, free mods, 17" TTMs.

i debated on even responding to this but honestly WHY? so you want to swap in one of the worst ford engine made just for sound? that makes no sence, so do what jodi said and sell your ls car for a stang and enjoy being destroyed by every ls car on the street just cause you like the sound.
oh welcome to the forum

Poor guy, I won't even reply except to say welcome to the forum from a fellow Okie. You've already caught the from everyone else.
On second thought, I will say this. The time and money it would take to even put in a termi motor (which yours may not be) would be outrageous. You would be better off buying a Vortech for your LS and calling it good....or even just go buy a termi Less time, less money either route you go.
I understand you may just be trying to do something different, but you have to stop and ask yourself, would it even be worth it in the end?

That fat pos engine wouldn't even fit between the shock towers without some serious sheet metal work.
Good luck with the swap and welcome to Mod Motor I mean LS1.com.2010 Camaro SIM 2SS/RS A6

wow, i think mustangs sound good, but not as good as ls1 with bolt ons,
its your money and your car, but i would buy a mustang instead,
dont make that poor fboy lose its value with a 4.6 motor in there, if it was a 03/04 cobra motor that would be something crazy and sick to see, but a 4.6 or 5.0?
i have seen mustangs with ls1/ls6 which it makes sense to me, but not an ls1 for a 30200 ss blk m6 " STOCK" strano springs, slp bilstein shocks, adj LCA, adj panhard bar, relocation brackets, 2 point SFCs welded,OEM zo6 rims black, magnaflow exhaust, CME exhaust,E/cutout, slp grille, custom front plate mount, HIDs, whistler mod, side moldings delete, slp air lid, ported and polished TB, strut tower brace, 3.73s gears, and some other parts to list!
next to come,4.10s,ls7 clutch, ms3 or 228r cam, ported 243s, ls6 intake, ls6 oil pump. ls2 timing chain, longtube headers no cats, with a tune..

Like everyone else said... there's a reason there aren't any threads on that particular topic. The 4.6 N/A is a gigantic downgrade performance wise, and probably won't even fit.
This thread was over before it got started. I will close it now to save the OP from more amounts of poo flinging.
