what exhaust system should i go with
Im looking for a complete exhaust system from headers to muffler. what should I go with. I have a 2000 trans am ws6. I want the most power possible. Im putting in a bigger cam as well not sure what size yet. I want a muffler thats loud and has a deep sound to it nothing that pops or crackles. any ideas.

is there a difference in power between mid or long tube

It depends on the emissions laws in your state. Longtubes are going to give you the best gains.

I was thinking of going with slp longtubes but i was told that the clearance is not that great on them

Pretty much any setup will give you good clearence, except SLP. The passenger side header has a tube the wraps down under the rest of the header, and loves the grab speed bumps.

if i get a header system with a y-pipe what do i do about cats.
-
05-15-2006, 05:39 PM #15
Keep em if your worried about emissions or get an off road Y and delete the codes for the cats.

so if i want cats i gotta by a y-pipe that includes them or do they just bolt up

If your talking about your stock cats, no they won't work with headers. You'll need to buy cats for the new Y pipe. Most campanies off either an off road Y or a Y w/ high flow cats.

You know, I actually thought about getting ‘Farm’ tags for my trans-am (my aunt is a big land owner in the state and has farm tags on all of her vehicles).. here in Texas the farmers can sign up for Farm tags which eliminates the requirement for cats and mufflers all together.. due to the fact that they are a ‘fire risk’ when ridding around in fields… but your only supposed to drive the vehicle from ‘ranch to ranch’ therefore if a police officer pulls you over say in the middle of Austin he can ticket the shit out of you…...

Never thought of that for a Ta but a lot of guys do that around here with their lifted trucks. It gets them around the height limit Delaware has. I think we have a 50 mi radius here.
