    ASR - Acts like governor?

I just picked up a 2000 z28 with 3" Flowmaster Pipes and K&N cold air intake... I was running it down the freeway and it would not go past 115. I had ASR enabled every time I hit that speed - Does anyone know if ASR will prevent the car from going 115+ or do I have another problem??

ASR is your traction control. it would have nothing to do with the speed limiter. i've had my 2000 above 115 plenty of times, so mabye a previous owner has set a speed limiter of 115 on your car or something?

if your car didn't come with z rated tires from the factory....that is where your speed limiter is..with z rated tires from the its around 162 or so.

My 02 Z-28 can w/the standard tire wheel set-up and they were z-rated,didn't see any lesser rated tire availability on the option list-never heard of a Z-28 that was limited to 115. Have heard of the pickup trucks being limited to around 95. I agree that someone has fiddled w/the computer and lowered the max speed. Even my 98 V-6 car went 125 fairly easy.

the sticker on the door says tire rating it "T"... it just doesnt make sense that a z28 would cut out at 115.

Although i have read that some audi's with ASR had enabled the speed limiter at a programed mph...

I'll have to test it out at an open dry road and find out

if the speed limiter had been set lower - is there a way to turn it off?

dang, you guys were right it is a limiter. The stock tires were T rated (looked at the driver side door sticker), and looks like they are good up to 118. So i went out for a drive and turned the ASR off just incase and heck my Z topped off at 118...

does anyone know how much it would cost to re-tune the computer to not limit

have any of you experienced this before?

Not that I drive over 118 all the time, but it would be nice to know im not limited..

Get some higher speed rated tires if you do reflash the computer, just to be smart and safe. The limit is there for a reason. Wanted to add that i learn something new everyday-didn't know they sold a lower speed rated tire on a Z-28-not sure why they would. My V-6 -5 speed car was not speed limited, guess it was the manual transmission. It had the T-rated tires.

Sorry I forgot to mention the tires on there right now are Z rated but computer still thinks theyre "T"

Where would one go to get the computer reflashed? and how much $ would that cost?

Check the speed shops in your area-or buy a Predator or similar type computer reflasher.

    00 Z28 sold :-(

A predator will do it like 02z28ls1 said...along with a lot of other things. A sponser here was selling them for $325, but usually they're $400

Yep, mine is set at 417 miles an hour. Sounded like a good number.
