Listen to this shit!! (Long)
I have a police officer come to my house and tell me, my neighbor (2 doors down) is reporting me for taking fire wood tonight. He tells me about a cord (4ft X 4ft X 8ft) of wood. I told him we took 6 pieces and that the wood is on my next door neighbors land (which it is). And that my next door neighbor gave me permission to take the wood (I have 3 witnesses) in the spring. The cops says my neighbor (2doors) wants the wood replaced AND the value of the wood (FUCK THAT, THATS DOUBLE JEOPARDY or some shit) and the lying bastard tells the cop my other neighbor already called the cops on me months ago (if he did, NO cop ever showed up, I was never called, nothing was ever said). I have known my next door neighbor for fucking years, I use to mow his yard for 6 years, that is why he told me and my witnesses we could use the wood as a neighborly gesture. Now what I want to know is when the cops get the whole story and prove myself in the clear, do I have legal action against my 2 door down neighbor for anything. I now see why people get shot.

Came back.. saw this.
Thats blows.... i would just go talk to him and try to work it out.
No double jeoprady is this.
double jeopardy noun Law the prosecution of a person twice for the same offense. • risk or disadvantage incurred from two sources simultaneously : he is in double jeopardy, unable to speak either language adequately.
But it is bull shit. lol

Ummm did the cop force you to give him anything?
The cop probably told him to take you to court because he cannot do anything.

He didn't try to force anything (cop was very nice), but my neighbor before even talking to me will call the cops, and lie. And then that neighbor wants double payment, I don't care if I was stealing the shit, you don't get paid for anything twice. I told the cop to tell him we will replace what wood we have taken (not admiting a damn ounce of guilt) because I will just take again, until I have been told by the neighbor that told me I could take the wood to stop. The cop said that my next door neighbor told him he could store his wood there. I said, if that was the case, I should have been told.

I have to add this, here in WI where I live we have about 6 inches of snow. Now you will all have to give me some trust on this one, but I told the cop, if I was told not to take the wood then I would not be stupid enought to walk through the snow and leave evidence when I could walk right up to the wood on the cement and leave nothing. I am not the smartest or brightest in the world but I sure and the fuck am not that stupid.

Maybe your neighbor is thinking of charging you both civially and criminally which people do have to pay both. Theres a sale on wood at Wal-Mart.

if i am reading this right - why the hell does the neighboor 2 doors down care about wood that isn't even his?
oh and as far as legal action. I pretty sure that you can't do anything about him falsly accusing you of stealing. Just let it go.

Sounds like a little miscomunication!!I would go replace the wood that you used, apologize for the misunderstanding, and keep the neighbor on your side..That is too small of a disagreement to feud over..you never know when you guys might need to depend on each other for something.Be the bigger person and follow this advice..you might be glad you did...
