My Used Oil Analysis From Blackstone
MARK: Your sampling technique didn't hurt anything; often, we'll find fuel in the oil if the sample's taken
cold, but we didn't find any here. We didn't find anything else that shouldn't be there, either, and that's great
news. Wear looks good compared to averages we have for the LS1, which are in the far right column for an
oil run of ~4,100 miles, and with no contamination present there are no worries about this V8. The viscosity
was just at the top of the 10W/30 range, and the TBN was fine. Go ahead and try 5,000 miles next, then
check back. Nice engine!
Does the UOA reveal the total condition of the engine, or is there anything else that I can do to find out what is going on in there?
I will be cleaning out the induction system this week, as I've noticed a sputter below 2,000 rpm, but other than that, things are looking good.Last edited by Naaman; 08-24-2016 at 09:25 PM.

That's the beauty of the oil analysis. They didn't find anything that shouldn't be there. Like they said, you can stretch out your oil change intervals and check back. This will save you some coin in the long run and have piece of mind your engine is healthy at the same time.

So here's a question. The analysis reports the findings in parts per million. I have been running 6 quarts per builder's instructions. I have also added about 1/3 of a quart between changes.
I wonder if the numbers would be different for 5.5 quarts?Lid, Throttle Body, LS6 Intake, Heads, Cam, Magnaflow, LS7 Clutch, SFCs, STB, Panhard Bar, Strano Springs, Hollow Sway Bars, Poly/Roto LCAs, Konis, MGW Shifter
