mega trouble!!!
i was drivin my 99z and got on it out of the stop sign about half throttle, heard a clunk, and now my tranny whines and doesnt shift until im totally off the trottle. makes lots of noise. the car only has 80,000 miles, would the tranny be junk already, ive heard alot of horror stories about the automatics. i know some ppl say good some ppl say bad about the A4s, i just want it fixed. if i go new, what would that cost, or just rebuild it, which way to go im lost

Just take it to a transmission shop. When your tranny has sliping problems it could be lots of things.

..I 'd rebuild the one you got..that way you know it all fits...but pick a good tranny shop that will stand behind their work...get a new torque converter too...and shop around for an oil pan with a drain plug so you can do frequent oil changes...maybe B&M..may have them..

If you have't already check the fluid level or change it see if there's alot of debri in the pan. Start asking around to find a good tranny shop if you don't know of one already.

i will be taking it to a local shop here in wisconsin, i talked to the guy and he seemed very knowledgeable and came highly recommended. he said he would take out the tranny, clean it up, put in a heavier r&r, tighten up the shifts, intall a new torque converter, a shift kit, update the valve train, look at the pump and give it a flush, and he garauntees his work. the price quote for all this was 1300$ which was the cheapest i found around here and he seemed to know his shit........but i trust ppl on these forums alot cause they live the camaro life, what do you think of my choice to bring it to this guy

$1300 is a good price for a turn key job. I just popped my tranny last night. I knew it was close to going and it came as no suprise.

...new clutches, new torque converter, valve body thoroughly checked out, add a tranny cooler, I would ask him how does he arrive at this round figure of 1300.00.....flush all your lines..or replace..winter is coming so that gives you a bit of time try to get as much info and insight as possible...some tranny shops give time yo pay like 6 months no interest...ie. Mr Transmission up here in Canada...good luck ...
