SES Light flashing
Yesterday, I noticed that my car was running really strange. It started up just fine, but after my drive to town for work it began running really choppy. The car's stock by motor standards, and no kind of motor work has been done to it in the recent past. It has 30k miles on it and about fifteen minutes ago it began running really bad.
I started the car up, and within five minutes of being on it was at a running temp of 160. It normally takes about ten minutes for the motor to completely warm up. The SES light was going on and then off, but then it began blinking in threes.
Then it ran extremely rough, and surging between 300-900rpm's. The light flashed faster and I was experiencing heavy exhaust fumes, which the car rarely does. The fumes smelled strongly of gasoline, so I turned the engine off.
Any ideas as to what may be happening to my car?
UPDATE 9/16/08*
The car is throwing these:
P0200 - Injector Circuit Open
P0200"pd" - Injector Circuit Open
P0308"pd" - Cylinder 8 Misfire Detected
10-9-08 - RECEIVED NEW CODE
PO155 - 02 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
I'm seriously at a loss here, and I'm not able to tow it to a dealership due to the loss of my job.Last edited by SS/CETA; 10-09-2008 at 02:04 PM.

Sounds like a random misfire. Can you pull the code and post it up? Check your wires to ensure they are tight and not melted, could also be a fouled plug, your best bet is to pull the code(s) and post them up.
J2001 SS, Its not the car its the Driver that matters....

I can't tell you for certain what the problem is, but I would recommend you unhook the battery for a while (an hour or so), and then hook it back up. Let the computer re-think, sometimes that's all it takes.

im clueless but i would try and find someone with a scanner so you can see what codes the engine is throwing. i wouldnt drive it till you do, you wouldnt wanna cause any permanent damage. if you do get a scanner but it doesnt define the code just post the code i have a thing to define them. good luck

I've got a few buddies with diagnostics tools, so as soon as I find one of them to run it on the car, I'll let you know.

UPDATE*
"P0200: Injector Circuit Open"
There's the code it threw. So I'm guessing I have a stuck fuel injector, hence why the exhaust is healthy with the stench of gasoline?

I honestly need help with this. It's my daily driver and I'm completely clueless to the LS1 engines. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Go to #2 injector which is the very front on the passenger side and make sure it is plugged in. Take a look at the wires to it and make sure no critters chewed the wires. If they are good try GENTLY tapping on the injector(while it's running) with something like the butt of a screw driver or an extension and see if the problem goes away.

Woops, I thought it was a po202. Anyway, it sounds like an injector problem but it could be a wiring problem (to the injector) also. I guess what I would do is try to pulse the injector (with the car off). With out any diagnostic equipment I guess you will have to use jumper wires to power and ground and see if you can hear a "click" Or take it to a mechanic so you don't set it on fire.

well as for the Ho2s code that you got 2day that is traditionally a bad o2 sensor. just replace it. did you ever get the other driveability problems fingered out?

what troubleshooting have you done, you haven't said...
your injector has failed, or the wiring to it is broken somewhere along the way.

^^^ yeah i forgot an open on your injector circuit doesnt mean the injector is stuck open, it means the circuitry is open/broken

That's what I needed to know. My daily is an LT1, and unfortunately for me I've not studied the LS1 as much as I should have. I've tried erasing the codes and unplugging the battery, to which neither work.
