Black- 1998 Camaro z28
"bump stop" gettin in the way of new rear tires!!!
Hi:
ive got a '98 z28. 100% stock suspension. i recently bought some 17inch rims which are 11inches out back- runnin 315s.
Theres what im calling a "bump stop" located on the inner wheel well which contacts the rear axle under hard cornering or other situations which would cause the rear end to bottom out (i think...). It has a couple of bolts on it and is triangular in shape.
My problem-
the tires are getting hung up on this "bump stop". i took the car to a shop and they put it in the air and mounted the wheels. when they put it back down the tires got stuck on the "bump stop" and the rear suspension didnt compress.
Im thinking about jacking the car up on the rear diff nd mounting the tires while the suspension is compressed- putting the "bump stop" inside the wheel. Either that or im going to take a sledge to it...its only making contact with the tire slightly.
WTF SHOULD I DO ABOUT THIS/HOW DO I FIX IT?!?!
thanx

Most people just grind it down till you have enough clearance. If I remember correctly there is a thread around here somewhere that shows how to make 315s fit with a little bit of work. I would find it for you but I am tired and just off work so I will leave the searching to you.
